This DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive from Lite-On features 52X read and write speeds and reads DVD-ROM at 16X. The drive uses Smart-Burn technology, which varies the drive speed according to the media in use, and checks the quality of the finished media, so you get working copies, not coasters. Smart-X high-performance DAE, VCD, and DVD data extraction ensures smooth, stable playback.

The unit's Auto Balance Spindle (ABS) reduces vibration during recording and reading, which gives you quiet operation, in addition to protecting your data and drive from vibration damage. Pros: Nice DVD-ROM drive. What's else to say. Burns CD's ok.

Cons: Notice I said it burns CD's. I thought this was a DVD burner. All well, went out and bought another drive. Now I have 2 DVD drives, so I guess it works out.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you know what your buying. Other than that, its a fine DVD reader/CD burner.

Pros: Solid built drive...Lite-On makes some of the best most reliable drives that I've seen...and fitted it for SATA...reads and writes CD flawlessly and with much less noise than the SuperBlue LG drive in my PC...even tho it does not burn DVD's.

Cons: Not on the drive itself but on the other companies out there...If they can make drives that read everything under the sun, why can't they make a drive that is consistantly fast across the board and that dont rattle the screws from the PC case when reading it...sad combo drives were suppose to end the multi-bay readers of old...any body else remember the cd-changers for the pc...what a bunch of rubes we were....

Other Thoughts: Nice to see that Lite-On puts an older purpose drive in newer SATA-, sooner or later the P-IDE and FDD ports on the motherboard with go the way of ISA and AGP....gets me all misty eyed...

Pros: well... it reads cd and dvd program disks.

Cons: does not come with a driver install disk and don't bother trying to go to the site and find one. I've read other reviews and have seen that it works great on XP. i have Vista and it will not play DVD's

Other Thoughts: A driver disk or at least a link on where to get the correct drivers would be great. Other than that works just fine.

Pros: It works as advertised.

Cons: Sounds like my dad's weed eater. This thing is so loud that I am going to replace it either with a different brand or a blu-ray drive.

Other Thoughts: If noise is an issue, do not buy this drive.

Pros: Was fast and SATA

Cons: Purchased 12/07 and died today 03/09 (not quite 15 mos old)...It ate my Windows CD literally making small pieces out of the disk as I was doing a repair to the OS. Of course the warranty was 12 mos.

Other Thoughts: I should have known better than to buy an off brand. I will never buy this manufacture again. Now I have to buy a replacement Windows XP disk.... :(
