This DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive from Lite-On features 52X read and write speeds and reads DVD-ROM at 16X. The drive uses Smart-Burn technology, which varies the drive speed according to the media in use, and checks the quality of the finished media, so you get working copies, not coasters. Smart-X high-performance DAE, VCD, and DVD data extraction ensures smooth, stable playback.

The unit's Auto Balance Spindle (ABS) reduces vibration during recording and reading, which gives you quiet operation, in addition to protecting your data and drive from vibration damage. Pros: i purchased this drive because my DVD burner reads CD-Rs and RWs way too slowly for my taste. this drive helps me download CDs way quicker. and yeah it doesn't burn DVDs, but i have a drive that does that anyway. plus the price is good and it's SATA. and did i mention that this thing is 9000x quieter than my DVD drive?

Cons: the round' the clock in my village charges $1.49 for coffee.

Good cheap drive

Pros: Sata interface, perfect match with a DVD burner. Runs really quietly, doesn't "buzz" as much as any other drive I've ever used. Fastest speeds on the market.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Runs well for me so far. Does what its supposed to.

Pros: well... it reads cd and dvd program disks.

Cons: does not come with a driver install disk and don't bother trying to go to the site and find one. I've read other reviews and have seen that it works great on XP. i have Vista and it will not play DVD's

Other Thoughts: A driver disk or at least a link on where to get the correct drivers would be great. Other than that works just fine.

Pros: It works as advertised.

Cons: Sounds like my dad's weed eater. This thing is so loud that I am going to replace it either with a different brand or a blu-ray drive.

Other Thoughts: If noise is an issue, do not buy this drive.

Pros: Was fast and SATA

Cons: Purchased 12/07 and died today 03/09 (not quite 15 mos old)...It ate my Windows CD literally making small pieces out of the disk as I was doing a repair to the OS. Of course the warranty was 12 mos.

Other Thoughts: I should have known better than to buy an off brand. I will never buy this manufacture again. Now I have to buy a replacement Windows XP disk.... :(
