5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Drive, Money well spent

Pros: I have been though many many DVD drives in my day. This one has been by far the best drive experience for me. No worries, and a great price. SATA drives are the way to go. I bought one exactly like this at best buy, found this, and returned the one at best buy because best buy wanted $90.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGood cheap drive

Pros: Really cheap, quiet, SATA

Cons: none. Although sometimes it acts weird and doesn't want to eject a disk... but only before windows starts so it's probably my motherboard

Other Thoughts: Get it. I had a pioneer that died within a few months and this thing blows it away in every aspect

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: can burn and read everything, good speeds. and Light Scribe

Cons: The tray is not all that sturdy when you eject a cd, my unit you can acually pull the cd tray out more and it shifts from left to right.

That dosent impact its performance tho.

Other Thoughts: Its a nice drive for the price, espically SATA, however I have not used that LS it comes with.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems Fine

Pros: Price.

Cons: Once in a while my BIOS fails to recognize it.

Other Thoughts: I prefer the Samsung drive for the same money.

5 out of 5 eggsA Great Lightscribe SATA Drive

Pros: - Lite-On (been making gr8t drives for a long time)
- Nearly fastest DVD burner consumers can buy; 32X CD-RW is uncommon even with the latest fast DVD burners
- Lightscribe [works]
- SATA [less clutter than PATA]
- Reliable; been burnin away in several different formats with different media and not a hiccup yet!
- Low CPU utilization (read other thoughts...)

Cons: - Not 22X DVD+R like some new drivers, but it's hard enough to find 18X media so this doesn't even take away 1/10 of an egg
- Speeds ratings are out the outside of the CD/DVD; until you get towards the end of the CD/DVD, actual speeds are slower

Other Thoughts: I've been a proud Lite-On customer for about 7 years now. This drive replaced another hard-working Lite-On drive that was aging. I nearly bought a BluRay ROM DVD Burner drive, but they are still a bit too costly for me and many still have enough problems to shy away someone like me. As for low CPU utilization, the older drive I had had a little higher CPU utilization than most drives, but I couldn't really tell with an AMD Quad-Core.

Pros: Work well for a little while

Cons: Worked okay for a couple of months but today i went to play some cds i just bought with windows media center it reads like 20s of first song then comes up with read error for all the others.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: NONE!!!!

Cons: Light Scribe function did not work from day one. I bought this is Sept. and now the drive wont read any disk. If there is a disk in the drive my comp wont start up. I cant RMA because i cant find the manuals. i called lite on for warrenty info and you cant talk to anyone at lite on. The customer serive number had an RMA option and a phone # to tech support that charges you to talk to them. Come on they cant be serious!!

Other Thoughts: Newegg customer service was great but lite on was horrible. I have serval peieces of equipment from them and this will be the last.
