Other Thoughts: If you maxed out our budget building a PC and just need a cheap drive to occasionally install drivers from optical media, this is a good one. If you're concerned with speed or bothered by an optical drive that sounds vaguely like a Minigun getting ready to fire, maybe keep looking.

Pros: Fit perfect. Worked perfect. What can you expect from Lite-on? Always had good experience from them. Recently purchased a refurbished computer from Newegg and didn't really need to use the CDROM until trying to load a driver for a WiFi antennae and found out the one that came with it was no good and I was past the 30 day period. So I purchased this CDROM which was plug and play and loaded the driver no problem. The discount that was attached even made it better. Can't go wrong for the price and a name like Lite-on.

Cons: Not one so far.

Pros: The drive looks like it might work if I could only find the firmware for it.

Cons: Yes, you bring me to the ASUS sight the download the firmware, I punch in the model number and it cant find the product. This is no good for me when I am trying to install this drive. Now I have to wait and see if I can find the firmware somewhere, it is not listed with ASUS. Why don't you make it easier to install things by actually listing the products that you sell. If I cant find the firmware I will have to buy another one from someone else that actually has the product firmware listed for download, Thanks for nothing.

Other Thoughts: Why would I recommend this to anyone or buy it again when I cant even find the firmware to install it? Now I am wasting my time typing this when I could be installing this drive. I guess that I am still in the market for an internal rom drive that I can actually get the firmware for. How is your day going so far? :(

Pros: Great DVD-ROM. No issues, purchased this because I was upgrading and rebuilding servers. Since I'm not constantly playing DVDs or install disc based software I just swap it between servers and leave it laying on the shelf till I need it.

Other Thoughts: Its a great ROM drive for the price, great for servers since most OS is DVD based.

Cons: The one time I've used it, it was loud to the point of being kind of alarming.

Other Thoughts: I've had this for 2 months and only used it once to install my mobo LAN drivers. Would have been a real pain if I didn't have any optical drive, definitely worth the $15 I paid for situations like that.

Other Thoughts: you may have hard of lite-on for their laptop power cables, so this thing is not generic. it's actually brand name.

Cons: - Loud !! Don't use it as a real DVD reader for movies or anything. It is cheap, cheaply made, so let it read Windows as a proof of consideration, then show it all your love by storing it until your next windows installation.

Other Thoughts: I just used it to install windows, plugged in a bit ghetto. Then, when it was installed, I gently removed this noisy and cheap optical drive to put it back in its carton.

Fits only one purpose perfectly well !
