5 out of 5 eggsWorks good

Pros: No separate power source needed. Just the one usb cord.

Works just like the external cd drive that I had to boot from to install OS's on. Needed dvd for Windows 7 installs on laptops with no dvd drives.

Cons: The usb cord that comes with it could be slightly longer but its not a big deal.

4 out of 5 eggsBe careful

Pros: This unit do what it's supposed to do very well.

Cons: Don't buy at full price cause it's not worth it. 25 $ would be my max bet higher than this I'll consider a unit with burning cpability.
Be careful with this unit constructed with '' CheapO PlasticO'
Not intended for intense use but who use a lot of CD/DVD media these days?

1 out of 5 eggsVery Delicate

Pros: It worked fine at first.

Cons: I bought this to travel with my netbook. I'm very careful with my stuff but this was broken on the second trip. The case is very delicate and the hinge broke rendering it useless. This will be the last Lite-on I'll buy; its the only brand of optical drive I've had wear out. This didn't get the chance.

2 out of 5 eggsDead on 32nd day!

Pros: Quick seek times, quiet, balanced, light, very portable, perfect until...

Cons: Stopped working exactly a month after I bought it... Still powers up and is recognized as an optical device, but fails to read/mount any disk. Tested in XP, Vista, and Ubuntu 9.04 Linux on 3 separate machines. Tried KG USB, nogo.

Other Thoughts: Have to send back to Lite-On for warranty, so I'm down another $7 shipping and no dvd player for how many weeks? boooooo! Still <3 NewEgg!!!

4 out of 5 eggsDoes its job

Pros: Does exactly what it's supposed to. Cheap, was 34.99 (1.99 for 3 day shipping) when I bought it on newegg less than 2 months ago. No problems, great for Netbooks.

Cons: It doesn't feel very sturdy and could easily be broken if not taken care of.

Other Thoughts: Pay attention to what you are buying, this is a DVD-ROM only.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Works as advertised.

Cons: The usb cable that comes with it is really short and the actual device feels a little cheap. It would be nice if it could be used vertically but it doesn't have a stand for that.

5 out of 5 eggsHandy Dandy

Pros: This little drive weighs practically nothing and is still solid and professional looking. Works perfect with my lil Dell Mini 10v.
Just set up a triple boot with OSX, Win 7 and Ubuntu :D

Cons: It took two whole days to ship it.. oh wait, that's not a con!.. :)

Other Thoughts: It comes with burning software that will clutter up your computer... It's not a burner so there's really no point to install the software on your netbook.etc.. Kinda funny.
