4 out of 5 eggsIt works :)

Pros: Works on the Dell XPS 8300 PC without the semaphore time out issue that some USB burner USB bridges have with certain USB controllers on the motherboard of some PC's. Works under Windows 7 64 bit SP 1 with native drivers.

Cons: It has the same con as all LiteOn's I've ever used. On 8x DVD+RW discs, it does not immediately go to 8x when writing. It starts out capped at 4x, then increases to 6x, and finally to 8x. I had a 1 GB test image in ImgBurn with Ritek 8x DVD+RW and it didn't make it to 8x because not enough time had elapsed to reach 8x. There wasn't enough data to burn long enough to get to 8x.

Other Thoughts: My only real issue with the drive is how they designed it to be sitting on its side. You can only stand it on one side. So, if you need it face to the left, it won't because when it stands, it faces to the right. On my desktop, I had to place the drive on the far right. So, I have to reach around to put discs into the tray.

Pros: Absolutely amazing.

Not going to ramble on about this item because it's as easy as saying it was well worth it.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsdurable and fast

Pros: The read write speed is great, and with features like ABS system, even if I move around, I wouldn't damage the device internally or my current burn session.

Cons: Bulky; the drive is kind of big, and I specifically use this for a laptop, which I carry around in a bag. It's also not powered though USB, it has a separate AC adapter which is also bulky.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace an internal, built-into DVD-R drive of my uber-old Acer Ferarri 1100, that got busted when a disc got stuck into it and could never get out.

System: Ubuntu Linux (Unity) 8GB RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems

Pros: Works good.

Cons: I am a little sketchy about mounting it vertically, because the disk sits cockeyed when inserted. Not a big issue.

Other Thoughts: Works great if your laptop drive goes out on you (which seems to be typical of HP products)

4 out of 5 eggsI'm Impressed

Pros: This is a nice, clean and well built drive. Quite operation too. Burn speed seems to be very good.

I bought this stirctly for the Lightscribe feature. This works fantastically. My burned discs look so much better than the ones I have made with the adhesive lables.

The Lightscribe media is slightly higher than standard discs. But I think it is a wash when you buy standard discs and adhesive lables.

I would highly recommend this to a friend.

Cons: The NERO 9 Essentials software. I had to install this software twice and still couldn't get it to communicate w/ my laptop. I went to the Lightscribe website and downloaded some driver software and now it works fine.

Other Thoughts: So far, I have been extremely happy with this purchase. I look forward to years of continued service with this drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat burner

Pros: Great burner, high speed, no errors so far. I've made roughly 10-15 DVD-R and 5 or so DVD-R DL and all worked great (except for one or two but they were my mistake) with the Nero that comes with the product. Lightscribe works well, and the darker setting is definitely a plus, but I feel like Lightscribe as a whole is still somewhat of a work in progress.

Cons: None really. My only setback was that for some reason my computer didn't recognize the drive so I just made sure to download the update on the Lightscribe website.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome drive

Pros: I bought the drive to burn DVDs of family movies because my laptop burner was slow. It was so easy and simple to set up, my dad already started by the time I got home and he pretty much knows nothing about computers.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Very good value.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: price is reasonable

Cons: When burning disk - some will burn however a lot come back with errors - telling me my disk is not in correct format or the disk is dirty. I am using high quality gold archival disk that are brand new. Not sure why some will burn with out any probably and other will not - I have wasted a lot of good disk due to this issue.

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend this burner.
