4 out of 5 eggsWorked perfectly

Pros: Perfect for my needs, as my tower doesn't allow for a traditional drive. Let's hope it lasts. Kudos to newegg for shipping it so quickly.

Cons: Not a blu-ray player :p

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfect

Pros: runs fairly quiet, slot load is always nice

Cons: with it came with a SATA adapter but I somehow already had one laying around :)

1 out of 5 eggsEverybody Happy?

Pros: Slot loading

Cons: Loading mechanism failed after 6 months, drive used one time only....!!

Lite-on had me jumping through many hoops and stopped one step short of wanting my SSN to issue an RMA.

A month later, they kindly informed me they no longer manufactured this drive and replaced it with a tray loader...

Nice, thanks Lite-On...!!!!

Other Thoughts: Everybody here is happy with this drive, so I may be the exception.

Still, the fact that Lite-On declined to replace this with a slot loader does not inspire confidence in the brand in general and this model in particular.

Save you money and get a tray model instead.

As for me, I'll stay clear from Lite-On for a while...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat basic DVD burner

Pros: Easy installation, very good price on sale, works awesome.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It's awesome how these have gotten so inexpensive compared to when they came out 13 or so years ago.

4 out of 5 eggsCool

Pros: Really cool. Much better than old CD tray drives. Just looks so much cleaner.

Cons: Should come with a slimline SATA cable.

Other Thoughts: All my drives will be slotload from now on

4 out of 5 eggsSeems Nice

Pros: Slot load, no need for popping DVDs in and out of the flimsy notebook caddys.
Fits my NORCO case perfectly

Cons: Needs a micro sata adapter cable.

Other Thoughts: When a product needs a non-standard cable like this one, I wish Newegg would provide a quick link to cables they carry that have been verified to work with it. I always order the wrong adapter the first time I build a server with one of these drives.

P.S. Item#: N82E16812200450 [StarTech 12" Micro SATA to SATA with LP4 Power Cable ] does not work with this drive.

5 out of 5 eggsWill not work with standard cables, found a solution with Cables Unlimited's FLT-6020-18

Pros: Works great, but you'll need the right cable, if you're trying to use this in a desktop computer with a free SATA port (AHCI mode works fine for Windows 7 install).

Newegg seems to have deactivated the Cables Unlimited's FLT-6020-18 that you'll need, Newegg part # N82E16812339253:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812339253&cm_re=FLT-6020-18-_-12-339-253-_-Product

so instead, here's the mfg's site:
http://www.cablesunlimited.com/products/Prod_Individual3.aspx?groupcode=I4261

As far as 5.25" enclosure for desktop users, works very nicely with this versatile device, which also gives you 2 USB ports and a 2.5" drive bay:

Space efficiency and energy efficiency.

Cons: None noted so far, but in general, notebook style drives are a bit slower than desktop drives.

4 out of 5 eggsWill not work with standard cables

Pros: Works in Windows 7

Cons: The Cable! You'll need a MICRO-SATA CABLE to use this drive . I had received all the components to my new build, and had to wait 2 more days to use it because I couldn't load my OS without that blasted cable! Sata power connector and sata cable will not fit the ports.

Sounds like a jet engine. It is by far the loudest thing in my otherwise silent PC. But then again, how often will the average user load a disc?

Other Thoughts: Fits in my Silverstone FT-03 case that requires a slim slot-load drive.

5 out of 5 eggsLite-On slot load CD/DVD

Pros: Drive works great. No problem booting from it in Win7 once BIOS is setup for it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: For mounting in a 5-1/4 inch bay, I discovered Digistor Bezel Kit for slim line drives after doing extensive Google searches. It's a little pricey, but eliminates the need for those ity bity screws for mounting the drive to the adapter. Paid about $33 w/shipping.
