5 out of 5 eggsGreat DVD player and not a burner.

Pros: Cheap, Under $10

Cons: Noisy.

Other Thoughts: Great DVD player for under $10, Too bad it don't burn any DVDs. A little noisy. Just what I needed for a notebook without DVD.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine.

Pros: Cheap alternative to internal drives.
Works fine, not loud.
No need for drivers.
Reliable so far.

Cons: No writing to discs, don't remember last time I needed that though
Plastic scratches easily, I don't care.
Cable is a bit short.

Other Thoughts: Will keep using with my micro HTPC, few computers that have cases with no 5.25"

5 out of 5 eggsGreat way to play DVD's on the go

Pros: USB plug and play, no drivers needed. Easy to use and setup. (Note: if you want to play dvds this doesn't play Blue rays)

Cons: Doesn't burn DVDs... but I bought a slightly more costly external drive for this exact feature.

Other Thoughts: I love this external DVD drive. If you want to watch your movies on the go, or even install windows and not want to purchase a internal DVD drive then you will love this product. I have installed windows 7 professional on my computer and it took about an hour. Considering that it's USB 2.0 I am very impressed.

5 out of 5 eggsGood at what it is designed for

Pros: Light, lighter than an old style diskman ... no power supply to manage
Small, does not take a lot of space on the desk
No tray, you do not have to make space (always not enough) on your desk for the tray to open properly, it opens by the top
Small cable, not lost in how to manag a too long cable, it stand right next to you notebook
No external power supply, that you don't know where to plug, where to place, no extra cable that come from nowhere.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Thinking of this item, it is just designed for notebooks or laptops without CD/DVD readers. You don't expect to burn when the only power is supplied by the USB port and it is fine, it is not a feature!

2 day shipping, I am so happy yet!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Works well with a simple USB 2.0

Cons: Noisy
Slow

Other Thoughts: This thing is pretty sweet. Yeah it's a little noisy and it's not exactly lightning fast. But lets be honest, it's operating a on USB 2.0.. For $15 as well.. This thing is great. Perfect for small builds with no room for a CD-Drive (that's what I ran into). Also a neat little socket on the bottom for the USB cable so you can easily stash it away with the cable until you needed it later if you didn't want to leave it laying around.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk

Pros: None-it didn't work

Cons: Wouldn't work with windows 8.1.

Other Thoughts: Thought maybe it was my lack of knowledge so I waited until I visited my son who is a computer tecvh for a large national CPA firm. He tried to get it to work without success and finally told me there was something wrong with it .

4 out of 5 eggsGood external dvd drive

Pros: Decent external dvd drive size, not heavy, works with most of my dvd disks. Great for desktop builds that do not have internal drives like mine, since I built a mini-itx gaming rig.

Cons: The cover that opens does not seem to have good quality, but this is an inexpensive drive. The USB cable holder on the bottom of the drive is angled 90 degrees, which is a bit rough to place the cable in, will be a tight fit as well.

Other Thoughts: Overall, decent drive for the price. There was a newegg discount when I purchased this, which is part of the reason for getting this one.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Little Drive

Pros: Inexpensive at 14.99 and does what it's supposed to do. A single USB connection is all that is needed. Most others I looked at needed two.

Cons: Like others, the 3 or 4" USB cable is kind of absurd. I think the mfg was thinking the only use would be with it lying on a table directly beside a laptop computer. I solved the issue with a USB extension I have.
Not crazy about having to slide a button to the side to open it and a mechanical drawer would be easier, but I figure that would have added to the cost or caused the mfg to cheapen the drive in some way. It also might have taken more power than the singe USB connection gives.

Other Thoughts: I bought this from Newegg's e-B-a-y store. I would like to see purchases on that site become part of my Newegg account on the main site.
