Pros: -smooth and fairly quiet -quality -slot loading, not many available on the market.
Cons: -could use some faint illumination ie light pipe to show the slot, common on some car stereo slot loading drives, very hard to see the slot when low light conditions with a black on black case. -pricey
Other Thoughts: Installed this in a Dell Optiplex 760 small form factor, had a hard time finding the Dell sheet metal tray to mount the drive to, but when I did it went together very easily.
I have owned a few Sony Optiarc drives over the years, no issues with any. The slim drives are more fragile by nature and slot loading is hit or miss on reliability. Time will only tell but so far I'm liking this over the other option which was the traditional spring loaded tray drive.

Pros: none
Cons: First one RMA'd to newegg. Horrible screeching noises
Second one died after 7 months. Out of 30 day warrenty for newegg. Sony Optiarc only honors their 2 year warrenty with the reseller (i.e. newegg). Newegg refused to help. Tried emailing sony optiarc, and my emails bounced.
Do not purchase their products if you think you'll need support!

Pros: I handle it and finger the face plate, and it felt solid, meaning I had no issues with the face plate being flimsy. The ones that gave this drive a rating 1,2 or 3, must have handle it abusively while installing the drive in their chosen case.
My Case Choice; Silvertone SG06, you get what you pay for!!!
Cons: Had no issues
Other Thoughts: Wonderful drive, the question is this, how long will it drive on :)
