5 out of 5 eggsXBOX 360 Backups

Pros: An amazing product. This dvd drive is able to burn XBOX 360 backups flawlessly. I have used it numerous times and I have not had 1 failed burn. It requires no lite-on or burnermax flashing, just install it in your tower and start burning. Ready right out of the box.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Absolutely worth it, especially for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsRegular DVD Drive, No Problems

Pros: Includes a SATA cable (the good kind with the holding clip), and an ImgBurn/CDBurnerXP/WinXP Driver disc.

Cons: A bit loud, but I'm used to loud Optical Drives.

Other Thoughts: The optical drive was worth it. Working perfectly.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great, but stopped after 2 weeks

Pros: Did what it said it would do. I used the overburn feature to back up several of my games and for other things.

Cons: I was sent the wrong burner the first time, but that was fixed and once I got it back it stopped working within 3 weeks. It won't cut on and emits a burnt plastic smell from it now. I would buy another but don't have the money to do so

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good

Pros: Bought two of these drives from Newegg at a fabulous price. I have run a ton of discs through both of these drives for the past several months, primarily burning dual layer discs which can be fussy, and both drives have worked flawlessly with no problems. A year from now? Who knows. For now they work great. So far, so good.

Cons: None at the moment.

1 out of 5 eggsBe careful...

Pros: 1. Worked flawlessly for a couple burns.
2. Overburned even though the model was a 5280S-CB and NOT a 5280S-CB-PLUS.

Cons: 1. No official Sony logo
2. No manufacturer warranty with Sony. Only the dealer and good luck getting it unless you buy a protection plan.
3. Worked for 2 months on and off and now does not show up in device manager.

Other Thoughts: I bought this same drive on from another website. I thought about buying it here however I had the prime shipping and got it in 2 days. Plus it was being shipped from an "Authorized Sony Dealer."

Firstly, there is no official Sony logo on this. Instead it is a Sony Optiarc which was/still is a partner with Sony but apparently has died off or is dieing. If you call Sony up and give them the model number of this drive they will not have any records of it. Try typing the model number on the website, it won't find it. That means there is no warranty on this drive past the 30 day return policy unless you get a protection plan or the dealer provides a warranty which is slim.

Secondly, the model showed "5280S-CB" with no "PLUS." Makes me think I got a different drive or an inferior drive. However it still overburned.

It worked great the first couple burns and then it started disappearing from device manager. It would burn with ImgBurn but would freeze on verifying. The bios sees it but I cant get it to show up in device manager. Tried different machines and cables all the same outcome. This happened 2 months into owning it.

Either I got a dud drive or these drives are bad news. Judging by the ratings I can only assume I got a bad one and have already ordered another. The company website was nice enough to take the drive back even after the 30 day return policy.

3 out of 5 eggsgood for 18 months then died

Pros: Everything worked till it hit 18 months old!!

Cons: Died at 18 months old. Started with tray not ejecting when there was no disk in it.
Then windows would start losing it! One day the DVD drive was there the next no DVD Drive. Bio's wouldn't recognize it either!

Unplugged cables and replugged in. No help!!
Tried in another computer same thing! A few days later No drive AT ALL!!!!

Other Thoughts: I know it has only a one year warranty but I have NEVER!!!!!!!!!! Had a drive die on me at only 18 months old with little use. I still have drives around here that are 10-15 years old and still working!!!!! None of them Sony's though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess what??? No more Sony products!!!!!!!!!!!!!
