1 out of 5 eggsThey are no good. DVD does not copy proper.

Pros: When you copy DVD from your original DVD copy bad quality.

Cons: Not a good quality Product.

Other Thoughts: I had lots of faith on Memorex product. since I own this Items. I lost faith.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat little device

Pros: Slim, usb powered, bootable.

Cons: sale didnt last very long should have bought more than one

Other Thoughts: if this thing drops back to 16.99 or so that it was on sale for i'd definitely buy them. the biggest failure i keep getting with my PC is the optical drives stop functioning i've purchased 4 dvdrw drives and they all stop being able to read. cleaning the lens does not seem to get the job done. This tiny little usb drive is portable and well sealed so i can use it however much i need then unplug and put away for strage so nothing happens to it.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Easy to use, cheap

Cons: Sometimes my pc won't register it without both USBs connected, not really a serious con at all

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with iMac OS X Yosemite and connected through USB hub

Pros: Sub $20 price on sale through Newegg. Works out the box with new iMac 5K with Retina Display coming in through an AC powered Anker USB 3.0 hub. Burned compilation movie in iDVD. Burned some files to disc using Finder. Played both burned DVD movie, data, and store bought DVD (Return of the King) with no issues.

Cons: None, but see comments

Other Thoughts: Drive open/close mechanism is just like what you see on a typical laptop. I worry about longevity of the mechanism. The drive is somewhat nosey, but that does't really bother me, but something to be aware of if that sort of thing concerns you. Be aware that it uses a very short "mini" USB B Male to a "dual" USB A Male cable (only 12-18 inches). The mini connection is the same kind you find on Dualshock controller to a PS3. and the extra (second) plug is for extra power the drive uses. Bottom line, you need two (2) open USB 2 or 3 slots to use this drive. I am using with a powered USB 3.0 hub and I would not expect it to work with an unpowered hub.

5 out of 5 eggs100% Legit.

Pros: I've been burning disc's since the late 90's and this is extremely high quality piece of hardware. As far as set up goes on W7, it's simple plug and play HOWEVER i did not use the included 'Nero' trial version software. I use the free program "Imgburn" which i've been using for like a decade. I've tested out a DVD+R,DVD-R,CD-R,DVD+RW and DVD-RW and everything burned fast & perfectly.

Cons: USB cord is really short. Not a problem for me personally but that's the only negative i've noticed.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks even though other models won't

Pros: Works despite trying 2 others with my computer.

Cons: Requires 2 USB slots for full speed.

Other Thoughts: I have tried 2 previous external DVD burners and they did not work on my system, so this was my last attempt. I've burnt over two dozen DVDs on it, some -R, some +R, and they all work perfectly. It does need 2 USB ports to run at full speed, but the cable it some with is long enough that I was able to plug it into some extras on the back of my machine.

5 out of 5 eggsMemorex USB 2.0 External Multi Format Slim DVD Recorder Model 98251

Pros: Very easy to setup, and use. I like the fact that it was a very good price. It is very compact, and it works well with every type of burning software I have used.

Cons: I didn't like how it ejects the disk and that you have to snap the disk down on the spindle. It functions more like a laptop DVD burner.

Other Thoughts: I have an older Memorex DVD burner, and I have had it for over 5 years. Up until recently it did it's job very well.
