Pioneer introduces the world's first 12x BD-R/BD-R DL optical drive. The BDR-205 Internal Blu-ray Disc/DVD/CD Writer is the next generation Blu-ray Disc Writer from Pioneer. This revolutionary product will write up to 12x on BD-R (25GB) and BD-R DL (50Gbytes) media. It allows users to author high-definition Blu-ray Disc content while also delivering the ability for high-capacity data storage. One BD-R DL disc will hold the same amount of data as 10 DVDs (single layer).

The BDR-205 can read BD-ROM and BD-ROM DL, read/write single and dual layer BD-R & BD-RE discs, read DVD-ROM, and read/write most DVD and CD recordable media formats.

Great Robust Burner

Pros: There's many to name. As soon as I took the drive out of the box and installed it on my PC running Windows 7 Ultimate using both Roxio 2010 and the latest version of Nero BURING ROM. I haven't had a problem since initial installation and each disc has completed successfully. I would definitely recommend this item as a stocking stuffer this Christmas. What I have noticed is for some odd reason it burns BDMV ISOs faster in Roxio Creator Classic than in Nero Burning ROM when choosing to burn ISO to disc.

Cons: To be honest I can't think of any as I really love this product

Other Thoughts: I would say upon installing and working within a Windows 7 Environment for the past couple of weeks I haven't had any issues whatsoever with compatibility regarding this drive at all. I would say this drive can deliver a 1-2 punch on performance assuming you have the right software to completed the needed tasks (i.e. creating an Audio/Data disc or watching a movie via Bluray)

Pros: Absolutely perfect. Installation & set up went smooth without a hitch. Loose the software...unnecessary. Performance excellent, as you would expect from a Pioneer product. Two Blu-Ray movies backed up on Verbatim BD-R DL, turned out perfect using Nero 8 Burning Rom in Blu-Ray setting...playback on PowerDVD 9 was flawless.

Cons: Absolutely none. This unit met all my expectations!

Other Thoughts: Customer Service/shipping time from newegg...was, as usual... "outstanding".

Pros: I had a chance to burn some 25 GB disk and they worked just fine. Movies play well and look great using Power DVD 9.

Pros: Awesome when I Watchin 24inch with BluRay movies wow nice!!! love it... but I didn't have tested for burning DVD-R or BD-R yet but that BD-R lots money not cheap as DVD-R ouch!

Cons: There box open have software for bluRay prog like copy or watchin movies cyberlink 7.0 powerstart! nice!

Pros: Does what it is advertised to do. I burned a Verbatim 4x BD-R at 10x. It took 23:41. In the burner's defense I was also copying a significant amount of data and files from the same drive it was burning from to an external. It originally said it would take 10:00. I burned 23.5 gigs of data

Cons: The software (from what I heard) I didn't bother to install it. I bought this, then New Egg turned around and sold it for 20 bucks cheaper the next day. Come on New Egg! Do you 30 day price match... that would make you more competitive as other stores (which match your prices).

Other Thoughts: When I was done burning I copied large files from the BD-R to my C drive (ssd). It was tranferring at 8.6 MB/sec. That is about under half of the speed of USB external transfer, it said it would take about 25 minutes to copy an 9 gig file. Weird seemed to burn faster than writing.
