1 out of 5 eggsOh what do you know..

Pros: Worked (somewhat) for a few months when I first bought it. That's it. Never watched a single bluray on it.

Cons: Everything. The drive from the getgo was much, much slower at burning any CD/DVD media than my previous DVD burner. I thought maybe it had to do with bluray being with it. Anyways I didn't have to use it so I left it unhooked when I swapped cases. Just a few weeks after the warranty was up... I had to use the drive and what do you know.. 9 minutes left on a dual layer and the drive is completely frozen up. Worthless and a waste of $50. Very regretful, oh well.

Other Thoughts: Go with LG instead

3 out of 5 eggsBig

Pros: Performance specs are ok. Drive works ok. Hasn't made any coasters.

Cons: Drive is very long. I got it for a small case, media center but the drive is 7" long and hence too big for the case. The depth was not in the specification so I did not know to be concerned about that.
The LG UN12NS30 is about 4.5" long. Just remember to watch for this problem in small spaces.

5 out of 5 eggsGood enough

Pros: Consistent, decent spec, bang for buck, somewhat quiet

Cons: Might not be the highest end optical drive

Other Thoughts: Ive owned a few optical drives over the years and I think this one has lasted the longest thus far. The price at the time was pretty status quo and its a solid deal. Runs fairly quiet and hasnt given me any issues so far.

4 out of 5 eggsSimple Drive

Pros: This drive works well and is fairly quiet

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: This is a bare drive meaning no software, so for those of you expecting software you'll need to get another drive or software

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the money!

Pros: Price: If you already have software, you cant beat this quiet running drive.
Fitment: It fits perfectly in my HP 1350 Envy. Button placement is identical to the stock HP burner. Windows 8.1 already had the driver in it.

Cons: The only CON I could see would be if someone bought this and expected it to come with software to watch BlueRay movies. Keep in mind this is just a naked drive for people who want to upgrade their existing system or to replace a malfunctioning drive.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: This drive "works out of the box." I use the term "works" very loosely.

Cons: When I say "works" I mean the tray slides open and closed. The Blu Ray function is totally useless on all of my Blu Ray discs. Has nothing to do with the software. The drive is simply not capable of playing certain [read "most"] Blu Ray discs. Which makes this a complete waste of money.

Other Thoughts: Right out of the gate, all kinds of error messages that says that "the drive will not play the [Blu Ray] Disc because of the way the disc was created."

However, it does this on every one of my Blu Rays. Every single one. This thing was really, really disappointing. While it didn't take me a huge amount of time to install the hardware, it is a pain in the ... to take the power supply out again. So I'm not going to bother. I'll just eat the $35.00 and never ever buy a Pioneer product again. I'd been impressed up until this point but this is the first Blu Ray product I've bought from them and I've been nothing but frustrated.

1 out of 5 eggsNo software

Pros: It does read CD's fast.

Cons: Does not come with the blue ray software, another words not actually a blue ray player just blue ray capable if you buy the software separately. Look into what that will cost you before you decide.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken on arrival

Pros: the tray opens

Cons: My powerdvd 11 can't read the drive. I tried DK rises, and Prometheus on Blu-ray. I didn't try DVD's because its 2013.

Other Thoughts: I will try to reinstall PowerDVD 11 and give it another shot before I RMA it. I will update.

5 out of 5 eggsBluRay Drive

Pros: Its a bluray player... right. It works well is not loud and keep in mind like all other oem drives it does not have media player software included. I am also keen on the fact it does not have any features other than the green read light that stand out from my all black case.

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: In comparison to my PS3 drive the clarity this drive produces on a BluRay disk along with my GPU's is substantially better. I was actually amazed a little about how good the detail was.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine enough

Pros: works

Cons: bluray media player

Other Thoughts: I got this because I wanted the option of playing bluray movies while my ps3 was in storage,
but I had no idea I would need a special media player on my computer to play them,
and I can't find any free software that will read them for free.

Other than that, it works just fine.
