3 out of 5 eggsOverpriced, Doesn't last

Pros: Worked well at first for burning and watching bluray
price

Cons: No software or drivers
Inconsistent performance
no support
began dying after only a few months

Other Thoughts: Bought this because it seemed reasonably priced and well reviewed. After only a few months of ownership, the drive began to take over a minute to show up in windows. On top of this, it was very loud. Then it would not connect or show up in Windows at all. After one year, it is finally completely dead. I regret spending money on this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a bad drive after all

Pros: Good drive

Cons: I learned that there are none

Other Thoughts: Earlier review the drive stopped showing up on my system, I thought the drive was bad and after purchasing a new drive learned the problem is with my motherboard..
I installed this in a MSI 760GM-P23 motherboard and this drive now works perfectly.
Some time it pays to trouble shoot a problem and not jump to conclusions like the big box store wiz kids always do.
Now I have 2 BluRay drives, one for each of my computers.

2 out of 5 eggsShort life Blue Ray

Pros: Worked as advertised

Cons: This drive did not last a year, turned it on last week and it was deader than a door nail

Other Thoughts: I expected a pioneer drive to last, other $12.00 DVD drives are going strong after four years.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: It is fairly quiet, does what it is meant to. Haven't had a chance to try and burn any Blu-Ray disks yet.

Cons: The LED on the front to indicate activity is a little distracting if it isn't covered.

Other Thoughts: If you want to watch Blu-Ray movies and don't have any software that can handle Blu-Ray yet, you may want to consider buying a drive that comes with software.

As of right now, there are not many decent free programs that are able to play Blu-Ray movies. I was able to get VLC to work for me for now, but I do wish I had a better program for it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood little drive

Pros: Price was key! 15X Blue ray burner, super fast. Queues up videos really quickly. Installation is a no-brainer.. Just plug in the sata connectors and good to go.

I installed on a Windows 8.1 .. No issues.

Cons: No Software. Sure would be nice to even have a demo disk or something. I downloaded Ashampoo burning software for tests..

Other con is the directions. The drive is not labeled BD-R for burner.. so it looks like a normal player, and the directions were not much help in clarifying. I thought I might have got the wrong model...

Other Thoughts: Overall, if you can find software cheap, then this is a great drive.. If you are going to have to pay 80.00 for Cyberlink or something like it, you may be better off buying a more expensive model that has software in it.
