Pros: Has everything you would look for in this type of drive. Speed, compatibly, software to name a few.

Cons: This drive right out off the box will not read most of my software installation discs. Reads some but not other that read fine in other computers. Returning it and going with a different brand.

Pros: eh. it reads disks now.

Cons: This thing came with OUTDATED software!!! I tried playing blue ray movie only to get notified to update, every time I did it still didn't work. I finally found out that Cyberlink stopped supporting version 10 of their software. Needless to say I ended up forking over another $60 just to be able to watch movies. Hopefully I'll be able to burn blue rays.

Other Thoughts: Not very satisfied with this drive at all.

Trouble burning/reading BDXL

Other Thoughts: I am usually very satisifed with Pio products. I used this to burn a few Verbatim BDXL discs at 4x.. all of them burn successfull, but the drive has trouble reading the data...
I just updated to the lataset firmware 1.33.. same result.. very deceived this time.. waste of money

Pros: Reads DVDs and BluRays fine.

Cons: Stopped writing discs.

Other Thoughts: I haven't used this drive very much. When I first got it I tested it out and it seemed to write discs OK, but I can no longer write DVDs or BluRays with the device. It can still read, but multiple pieces of burning software now fail with the drive claiming that it can't validate the media before writing. It is not the media because I was able to use the same media in a different drive.

Pros: It burns nicely.

Cons: If making legal backups of your movies is important to you then look elsewhere this drive is riplocked. The fastest you're going to rip a disc is 8MB/s.

Pros: It is indeed very quiet. I have a very "quiet" but fast computer in a quiet room in a quiet neighborhood and while burning BD-R and BD-RE it is barely noticeable as it sits 16 inches from my left ear, for real.

Cons: No problems what so ever.

Other Thoughts: It was on sale via Newegg email savings. Be smart and sign up.
Using Imgburn I can burn a BL-R DL with 42.5GB at 4X = 43 min write & 28 min verify. No coasters.
Never burn at top speed! ;-)

Having good luck with that brand in BD -R as well.

Pros: Not many.

Cons: Bought this last year and 11 months later it stopped reading discs. Contacted Pioneer about replacing it under warranty and they ignored me. Submitted a ticket on it and emailed them when they didn't respond only to have them ignore the email as well. Warranty expired and still never heard from them. Will never buy another Pioneer drive again.

Pros: This unit the 2209 sets the standard their really isn't anything else that needs to be said
It does quad layer Blu-Ray burning and reads them
This is for the most part a purchase and forget about it
It has never had a hick up
the 2209 series will go the whole distance and do the 128 gigs on one (still spendy) 128 gig disk
basically when you purchase this unit you simply have pulled out all the stops
This model was revamped from the previous design the 2208 or 208 It is quitter and more dust free as well as more reliable

Cons: don't know of any cons on this product

Other Thoughts: The 2209 is one of the smoothest DVD/CD/Blu-Ray drives I've ever used including the 2208 and 207
It just does what it is suppose to do sits installed invisible until you need it then shines through with reliability
One could always get a bad one but the reliability of this one is quite good

Pros: Works well. Haven't really used it much and haven't tried any Blu-rays but runs DVDs just fine.

Cons: Can't cook breakfast.

Pros: Good old Pioneer, no less. Works right off the bat, and works very very well, just as expected. Keep going Pioneer. Very nice price point at the Egg, Keep it up Egg.

Cons: None to think of.

Other Thoughts: Wish 2 things - it came with a white bezel, and more importantly, it had light-scribe capability.
