Pros: Quiet dependable. I have bought three and they all have performed perfectly.

Other Thoughts: Newegg has consistently delivered great prices and dependable delivery at a great price. I use them exclusively for all my hardware needs even if a like product is available locally because of the outstanding selction and customer service.

Tolerable, but not the best I've used

Pros: Reads and writes are both (mostly) reliable -- but see below. No coasters so far, but I've only burned about a dozen discs.

Cons: I've had problems reading the last 100MB or so from DVD+R discs that are filled to capacity. An HP drive has no problems with the same discs.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this drive on a Linux-only system, so I can't comment on Windows or MacOS software. (I seem to recall it came with a Nero disc, but I've got an unused pile of those gathering dust, and I'm not positive which drives came with which discs.)

Pros: I was the one that was frustated below this because one of my drives just didn't work. Newegg.com had an replacement at my door in 3 days. WOW!

Cons: bought 2, 1 did not work.
