Some Problems, Great Drive

Pros: Fast, Runs at UDMA-5. Quite a bit for a DVD burner.
Light scribe works perfect
Comes with a Nero 8 essentials disc also.
Great Price

Cons: Didn't like to be on the same SATA channel as my backup Hard Drive. Couldn't get it to go out of a low transfer rate of PIO4 until I gave it its own channel. So if your drive is acting funny and burning as slow as 1.3X speed. Change the SATA channel its on in the motherboard.
Don't know if its just my motherboard or a problem with the drive though.

Pros: well it works

Cons: its VERY loud. it makes a ridiculous little screech(not loud but still) noise every time a disc is installed and then it violently speeds up. sometimes it will make that annoying screech noise out of the blue as if its about to start up.

Other Thoughts: I thought a DVD drive would be pretty simple but its the only thing that bothers me on my new pc.

Pros: Don't know how you can go wrong for $29.99, especially if you purchase with a rebate as I did.
Using it for about 2 months now with no issues. Works perfectly, is fast and quiet. What more could you ask for?

Cons: None at all!

Pros: comes with a rebate!!! with free shipping!!!

Cons: too bad i've waited a week till the rebate ends and expire!

Other Thoughts: Next time dont forget to keep your rebate upc# keep it in a safe place so you could remember before the due date!

Pros: Just installed and got it working, no problems at all.

Cons: Nero, that came together with this drive, is very limited, it's OEM version, but it was predictable. The bad news that it's buggy, for example if you want to install the update it goes to reboot forever. The Firmware update is not working telling me that there are no ASUS drives installed, such a shame! :) But it IS installed.
