Pros: Does what it's supposed to do. Burns dvds and cds, as well as reads them.

Cons: This is, hands down, the loudest drive I have ever owned. Even my 8 year old samsung and toshiba dvd cd-r drives were closer to a whisper than these things let out. It's a good thing I don't use the drive too often, otherwise I would feel bad having this in an otherwise silent machine.

Other Thoughts: Haven't had a problem with it so far -- works more reliably than my old drive did. Will definitely consider an ASUS drive in the future..

Pros: It works, great specs for its price range. It's a drive, not much to expect.

Cons: It doesn't play Blu-Ray.

Other Thoughts: People complain about the loudness. I've never heard a drive that's not 'loud'. I don't expect it to be less noisy than my hard disk. It has to spin and read/write the CD/DVD you put in! Drives with lower speeds might be less noisy though.

Pros: Has read everything I've put into it, even old, scratched up discs. Plus, it's pretty quiet. I burn discs with this thing daily and I can barely tell it's doing anything with my case door closed

Other Thoughts: Guys, date nerdy girls. I woke up one morning with a delicious sandwich sitting on the open drive tray...I was kind of hoping my computer made it for me...

Pros: The drive works perfectly and does exactly what it's supposed to. No problems reading or burning dvds/cds.

Cons: LOUD. This is the noisiest dvd burner that I've ever owned. Every time I turned on my pc, I heard a loud beep-bop, hiss, hisssssss.

Other Thoughts: Even though the drive worked flawlessly, I actually bought another drive (by a different manufacturer) to replace it just because of the noise. Asus makes great motherboards and monitors, but I won't be buying their optical drives again.

Pros: works as intended for the past 2 weeks, no weird noises AND reads everything i've thrown at it so far! (even a nine year old scratched up CD album)

Cons: none yet.

Other Thoughts: ASUS strikes again with high efficiency products that I was happy to purchase. thanks ASUS!
