Cons: Doesn't work with the computer I needed it to. I contacted the manufacturer, but after a month, they have yet to contact me. Very dissapointed in Asus.

Other Thoughts: When reading the specs I thought it was only going to be for reading, as it doesn't show write speeds.

HOWEVER, multiple people on newegg who reviewed it said it was able to write, which is where i got the idea.

Won't affect me too much but it would have been nice to have...

REMOVE THE REVIEWS SAYING IT CAN WRITE DATA!!!!!

Other Thoughts: When using the optical drive to read or run cds/dvds you can use the main usb connector plug only and it'll work. If your burning cds/dvds it requires both of the usb plugs for additional power.

Pros: It is fairly quiet, easy to store, and works as advertised. My gigabyte motherboard recognized it and I was able to install windows 7 OS with it.

Cons: It requires enough power from the usb port to run, more than a flash drive. Occasionally it does not display as plugged in or available.

Other Thoughts: I read someplace that this is a rebranded product, but I don't recall who made it.

Anyway, full size burners are cheap, so I thought it was going to be a burner, though everything says it is a ROM. I have a SLOT, tiny Samsung burner, which is very persnikity, so the simplicity of this burner is refreshing.

Pros: Bought this to go with an Acer netbook and haven't had any issues with it. Price was great for the unit when I bought it.

Cons: A bit louder than I'd care for but about what I expected for an external unit at the low price.
