The LG GGW-H20L OEM Blu-Ray Disc Rewriter reads and burns High Definition Blu-ray Discs, as well as DVD and CD formats. It supports recording both 50GB and 25GB BD-R and BD-RE discs. The Way To Go
- Pros: It burns almost everything except HD DVD "who cares". Plays everything I throw at it even plays Those old records from the '60 "only if you can fit them in" The drive is quiet, burns at a decent speed, and plays HD and Blu-ray perfectly. OEM means just the hardware no extra cable or original box. I talk to a Newegg rep and he said all the OEM should come with the software. I got mine and so should you. I got a free Ridata disc but 25 gigs which to me is nothing. Blu-ray media are cheaper online try e b ay. they can be used for data, video, mp3, photos you name it." I burned a panasonic 50gb with video, photos, mp3 and data I can access them all in my computer and also my PS3(except data meaning softwares on the ps3! Freaking Awesome. Remember when burning don't multi task. The days of DVD Dual Layers 8.5 are done for me! Instead of having 12 DVD Dual Layer disc I prefer 2 blu-ray disc 50 gb. I hope this is helpful to everybody out there. Because nobody had tested burning blu-ray data
- Cons: You will need to upgrade your computer hardware especially your video card to support HDCP. There is another option get (Anydvd or Anydvd HD) works on the background it will communicate with powerdvd allowing you to play any HD or Blu-ray without meeting the minimum requirements. If you don't have a video card the supports HDCP or a monitor with is required this program will by pass it, you don't have a dual or quad duo cpu this program will by pass everything. I still have an AMD FX-55 and I run HD & Blu-ray without slow down. Some good for nothing comment "6x on dual layer, 2x on burning blu-ray, 1x on blu-ray RE it is display in the specific information if you don't like it don't buy it. Really this is a perfect buy for those who want everything in a Disc Drive, there is no cons everything like I say it's display in the description box. Their is no secrets. CONS - Doesn't play my PS3 and Xbox 360 games!
- Other Thoughts: Burning Blu-ray media was the main reason I bought this drive. I have a 1.5tb and I don't want to lose all my data.I went to online and purchase a panasonic 10 pack 50 gbs for $98 dollars. The letter on the cover are in chinese or japanese so I din't understand anything those words read "yeah I took a chance". All I know it's a Panasonic 50 gigs and it's for Video. I did my research and found out the Panasonic was one of the first company to ever support blu-ray. I burned the panasonic with power2go I went to Data disc, blu-ray disc added my files and in configuration I added enable buffer underrun protection, close disc, verify recorded data and enable defect management (File System 2.5) . I started the burning process and left my computer doing just that task and decided to watch LA vs Nuggets"What an embarrassment nuggets lost game 6 by like 20 points" After 2 hours everything was completed. I got my disc with some data & personal video and they all play fine in my computer and PS3.
Great Drive!
- Pros: This drive installs easy and is very fast. It allows booting from a DVD (for installing a fresh copy of an OS).
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Buying this drive alone does not allow playing of Blu-ray commercial movies. You also need a HDCP video card AND monitor. Also need software to play the movies.

Works great
- Pros: It really works great. I run my own HD video production company, and it has yet to give me any troubles at all, and for the price, it cannot be beat. Just be sure that the BRD's you purchase are compatible with the burner. The more you know...
- Cons: The only one I had was mine came with no drivers or software for actual viewing of HD DVD's or BRD's... but that's easily fixable with a quick web search.
- Other Thoughts: Worth the money, even for a professional.
- Pros: Does the job it is supposed to do. Burned some 20 BD-R discs from two different brands and a bunch of DVD+R discs so far and no coasters even when I accidentaly unrared a 4.5 GB file while burning a BD-R disc. It just slowed down and finished the job.
Reading all my old DVDs and CDs without a problem.
- Cons: It takes two minutes longer to burn the same SONY DVD+R media than with my old Toshiba DVD burner although burning software reports both burners are burning @ 16X
Stick to your guns
- Pros: Not too loud, decent speed, works. Completely quiet at video playback speeds.
- Cons: Worst issue is that NewEgg has trouble understanding the difference between an "OEM" product and a "we kept everything but the drive" product. OEM products aren't inherently devoid of features like cables, manuals, and software. But I see from the other reviews that I'm not the only one who was sent a drive without all the stuff shown in the photos.
- Other Thoughts: Fortunately, I did get sent the software and manual up-front. It took a lot of complaining and back and forth, but I finally got NewEgg to send the cable and power adapter they promised in the photos as well (ironically, I'm sure that NewEgg spent more on the arguing than they did on shipping the missing parts).
I don't know why NewEgg is so "Jekyll and Hyde" when it comes to customer service -- seems like occasionally I get someone who wants to bend over backwards to help, and other times (like this) it's the classic tech customer support run-around -- but if you don't get everything you paid for, be sure to stand up for your rights.
