1 out of 5 eggsBEWARE: Doesn't burn all BDR discs

Pros: burns dvd ok

Cons: Will not burn different blu ray media such as Cendyne discs and other named discs...
They rarely update the firmware...I had a lg ggw-h201 and the last firmware update was 2 years ago and I just bough the drive a year ago from new egg.....and there support is non-existent...

Other Thoughts: buy the Pioneer or other brand......

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Darn Good!

Pros: Worked well out of the box. Have had it in a Vista Home Premium (previous) and an XP Pro SP3 box (current), and have been happy with it's ability to rip and record in each. Speed is good, and all of the write-once media I've tried have played ok in retail BD players from Samsung, Panasonic and Sony. Officially, I bought the OEM, but it came with the same software, so... 8Þ

Cons: Just a beef - why can't they speed up writing on RW media? A 50GB Sony takes freakin' forever!! 25GB Ricoh and Verbatim aren't much better. Looks like nobody is doing anything better, even five months later, so I won't dock an egg for this...

Other Thoughts: I have a Win7 Home Premium box sitting next to the XP one the drive is in now, and was toying with the idea of moving the drive to it until today. In preparation, I flashed the 2.00 firmware to the drive (available since September(?); what are ppl kvetching about??). OOPS! Looks like it is riplocked - rip speeds dropped by a factor of six, from about 9MB/s to about 1.5MB/s. Maybe MCSE works as a patch, but I'll wait for now. Flashed back to the original firmware, and all is right w/ the world again. Probably works in Win7 anyway, but... Hence, minus one egg.

1 out of 5 eggs2 reviews are needed here

Pros: *can watch most of your bluray movies*
**after you update everything you can burn bluray movies w/sound(sounds like should not be too much to ask but...)**

Works w/ LTH discs

Cons: *some of them you do not get a menu...or play button
** sigh
***?you have to update to get to work w/win7?
****even after recording from a capture card in HD, the quality does not transfer to the disc at all

Other Thoughts: on the other hand....cyberlink does the software, have already put in ticket w/ them.....severl day wait for response

1 out of 5 eggsjust a heads up

Pros: Within minutes I put 5 M2TS files on the included disc no problems.I purchased this drive from a local retailer. The disc included was brand name Verbatim 6x BD-R. Its a great addition to any system

Cons: written on the box : Compatible with all BD/DVD/CD Formats. This statement is false unless by compatible they mean round and disc shaped. The drive failed to write three times on nearly identical blank blu ray discs,Verbatim 4x BD-R.Three discs, three fails.Google it, there are issues with these drives and 4x writing speeds.

Other Thoughts: Made In China like all super high quality products! The LG building in China is across the street from the factory that makes earth spin.Maybe they can manufacture my 27 dollars I wasted on the 3 Verbatim discs and send it to me.

1 out of 5 eggsBurnt' out!

Pros: It's a blu-ray burner! Come's with software!

Cons: Quit after 12 data backup burns to 12 different RW blu-ray disk, I have problems with another LG Blu-ray drive burning as well as playing movies, one give me a buzz instead of sound while playing a movie... beginning to wonder if this is still in infant technology considering all the firmware updates, for both computer and Home entertainment devices!!! Stay Clear!!!

Other Thoughts: By the time I got it, (3-days) got around to installing it, (2 days) burnt' 12 disks (17 Days) weekday burns... and finally removing it, the 30 days was up so I can't return it to new egg! Sucks! Pay $200.00 for a piece of ...

5 out of 5 eggsmac friendly

Pros: works with macs, no drivers needed, fast burning, seems reliable

Cons: none so far but have only used it for a limited amount of time

Other Thoughts: finally got around to updating my home theater, driven by a macmini i swapped the cpu out in. threw this inside a vantec nexstar external sata case, plugged it into my mac and it was instantly visible, no drivers needed..

used toast titanium to burn discs, toast also saw the drive right away and burned with it fine without me needing to do anything but click the 'burn' button ;)

haven't tried burning any blue ray disks yet but it burned a few dvd's fine so i assume it'll burn blue ray media just as easily (since toast supports this natively too).. not sure what i'll need to do to get blue ray movies to play, if i even can :-P

5 out of 5 eggsNICE

Pros: Works as advertised. Inexpensive way to be able to backup using BD-R discs.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Editing software is really not needed if your running Nero 9 or other top DVD burning software. The software comes with auto firmware update. Myself I wouldn't install it unless you have a problem. The saying don't fix it if it isn't broke really can apply here.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and have not had a problem with this drive. I have burned single and dual layer DVD's with it. I may have read CD's with it, I know it will read DvD's and Blurays.

Cons: The included software leaves something to be desired.

Other Thoughts: I am not sure if LightScribe in burners has been reduced to the level of DvD decoding on video cards, but this drive seems to support the feature; it is not listed as a feature and I have not tested it, but it came with drivers for it and the LightScribe software says that it is supported.

I wish blank Blurays were cheaper so I could test that feature, but I would be very surprised if it had any problems.

1 out of 5 eggsDO not BUY for WIN7

Pros: Supports previous versions of windows except Win & not a Pro but needed to mention this.

Cons: I bought this burner from another online capitalistic company but have found out that WIN 7 is not supported - so why the high price? So LG can recoup from their old stock of burners while taking their time in building a driver for WIN 7.

Other Thoughts: Money is only for those who need to feel important. "iamdavinci"

1 out of 5 eggsLG does not support Windows 7 64 bit

Pros: none

Cons: LG informs me that there is no 64 bit driver for Windows 7 and thus the drive runs in 'Generic Mode' where only basic functions are supported. It would have been nice to know this before purchasing two drives. I now own two expensive, but mostly useless drives.

Other Thoughts: LG also tells me that they have no plans for a 64 bit driver.
