5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: Consistently delivers a perfect burn. Never had a disc go bad. I only use Verbatim, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Cons: none. wish it wrote at faster than 2x speed for bd-re

Other Thoughts: I have owned this drive since 2010. I use it moderately fo rburning Dlu ray and dvd projects for my clients. For the money I paid, I could not ask for more.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't Work, no support

Pros: None, it hasn't worked since a few days after install.

Cons: Doesn't work. LG support can't seem to follow through on repair requests.

Other Thoughts: I'll not be taking the plunge with LG from here on, given poor support and bad product.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after only 2 burns

Pros: Looks nice and sleek
Burned discs pretty well the only two times I tried

Cons: I bought this drive Dec. 2010 and only burned two discs with it (both blu-ray). I never tried watching a blu-ray with it.

I tried burning another disc recently, and the drive just clicked. It died after two burns...waste of money.

3 out of 5 eggsAnything But LightScribe

Pros: Serves its purpose for an entry level Blu-ray burner.

Cons: DOES NOT do LightScribe as advertised.

Other Thoughts: I should have dug deeper into reviews before buying.

1 out of 5 eggsWhy are all Optical Drives Junk?

Pros: None. Worked for a little while. I watched BR 3 movies with it. Was hard getting them to play from the get go. Included software (Power DVD) did not work. I was forced to buy Total Media Theater 5 to get movies to play and I still had issues getting them to start.

Cons: I hardly used this thing and when I tried to use it back in September 2012 ( I had not tried using it in almost a year) it no longer worked. It does not read or write. Makes a bunch of clicking sounds when a disc is put in. I finally get a message saying the disc cannot be read. Wont read music CD, Blu-Ray, or DVD. Will not write either. Total JUNK. I am very gentle on my equipment and I find myself up the creek without a paddle every time I buy an optical drive.

Other Thoughts: I have had several other optical drives fail the same way. I use them very little and when I need one they fail on me. I am sick of spending money on an optical drive every time I need one. It used to be that they lasted forever. Now I cant get one to last a year or 2 with very little use. If I could give this less than 1 egg I would.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage: Died after very minimal use

Pros: Worked well when I first got it.

Cons: Manufacture Date: June 2010
Purchase Date: November 27, 2010

Died after very light usage. Will not read Blu-rays or DVDs anymore, but CDs okay. May very well have broken long before the two year mark, but I don't know because the drive was used so infrequently. Never even got to burn a Blu-ray. My refurbished Toshiba HD DVD drive is even older and is still running strong.

Other Thoughts: I just have bad luck with optical drives. I've had four LITE-ONs die just after a year and now this. Best drive I've owned is a Pioneer DVD-RW that's 6 1/2 years old and still running.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked a few times

Pros: Good Price

Cons: Only used a few times in my HTPC build. I had trouble with the software that it came with (Power DVD 9) so I had to install and buy Total Media Theater 5 to get it to work. I recently tried to use it to install some software on my computer but it would not read the disc. I tried several other discs and same result. I reformatted my system to install a SSD drive and I tried to install the drivers and firmware again. It updated a couple times successfully but now it pops up on me every day asking me to update the firmware and then it fails to update. Really annoying. I will not read any Blu Ray discs, DVD movies or regular software discs. It will sort of read Music CD but it plays real choppy which I am sure has to do with the poor drive reading. I have only watched 3 Blu Ray movies with this drive in about 18months of ownership. I wish I had used it more before it failed

Other Thoughts: Cheap Blu Ray = expensive cost of ownership cause now I have to buy another one. I feel Violated, cheap and used. Shame on LG for making such a poor quality product.

I know that its out of warranty but someone should make this right.

1 out of 5 eggsShort Life Span

Pros: Worked well when the drive functioned

Cons: Died after a 1.5 years of light usage. Put this into my HTPC that got very little use as a Blu-ray player and the drive just died. Very disappointed with lifespan.
