5 out of 5 eggsOEM with software?

Pros: I don't use it that often, and haven't yet for blu-rays, but it's nice when I do need to read a disc of some sort. Biggest pro with this is that it was the OEM version and I still got software to play the blu-rays; careful about that because, to my knowledge, Windows doesn't have any free software to play blu-rays, and I'm not sure that VLC has got them going yet... MKVs, yes, blu-rays from the disc... don't think so.

Cons: None, yet.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Included software with firmware updater is nice bonus I never considered. Fairly fast at starting playback.

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: I installed this in a Lian-Li PC-C50B case and if your interested, the button lines up with the outside case button, so the case has a very nice finished look.

5 out of 5 eggslove it

Pros: Haven't been able to watch a full movie yet but so far it runs a beautiful picture. I haven't been able to play with it very much but i saw a preview for earth... AMAZING. I know that any blu-ray player could do that but this just excited me. When you drop as much money as i did on a comp and then find it works perfect... it's exciting.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Easy install... works great

5 out of 5 eggsGreat after BIOS update

Pros: I bought this to replacing another slightly older LG Blu Ray / HD DVD drive which works wonderfully but was needed in another machine. The install was easy except for one issue I list in the cons section. I was especially pleased that the drive included a copy of Power DVD 9 which was capable of playing back my 3D Blu Ray's. I had expected to have to buy the latest greatest version of Power DVD but the included version works great.

Cons: Since I was replacing one LG drive with another I thought that I would not even bother with installing the new software that they sent with the drive. It was plug and play. I was able to use the old software I had (Power DVD Ultra) and everything appeared normal. After about a week however, I started the pc and got the BSOD. I thought it might be because of the new drive so I disconnected it and rebooted. My pc booted just fine. Plugged it back in and got the BSOD. I then ejected the Blu Ray disc that was in the drive and rebooted again. The pc booted perfectly! I inserted a game disc and rebooted. Again the pc booted perfectly. I put in a dvd and rebooted. Again the machine booted fine. Come to find out my pc would not boot when a Blu Ray was in the drive. I googled the problem and found one guy in Australia that had the same problem but had no solution. I updated the BIOS of the drive using the LG tool on the supplied software disc and that fixed the problem!

Other Thoughts: Other than the BIOS issue, I like the drive and software. If not for the problem I had, I would not have even bothered to load the included software. My thought was that my old software which was capable of Blu Ray and HD DVD playback was good enough for me. When I DID load the software (which includes the LG tool for BIOS update) I noticed it had Power DVD 9. Big deal, its the 9.0 version I told myself. When I started Power DVD 9 for the first time I noticed it had the 3D logo on the bottom of the screen so I went and grabbed one of my Blu Ray 3D discs and started to play it (with Nvidia 3D vision and Alienware AW2310 monitor). Low and behold, I was watching my Blu Ray in full 3D!. I was going to buy the latest version of Power DVD so that I could play my 3D Blu Rays on my pc. Even at the "Upgrade" price, the new version of Power DVD would have cost more than the $60 I spent on this drive. Overall I could not be happier with my purchase. Download latest BIOS!!!

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the trick!

Pros: Great firmware updating software to keep it current and playing new BR discs! Also, the most important just works!

Cons: Not wanting to wear it out by burning other media, I opted to spend more money on a lone BR player. Not really a con...just didn't know where else to say it!

Other Thoughts: Comes with helpful software.

5 out of 5 eggsNice drive, reasonable price

Pros: Has worked flawlessly for me so far!

Cons: Doesn't play my old VHS and Bets tapes! Oh well.

Other Thoughts: I got a DIY PC Combo kit and added this so I'd have a blu-ray drive in the build. Has been great thus far.

5 out of 5 eggsDVD\BluRay ROM

Pros: A great low cost drive. I have used this to play BluRay movies using Cyerlink and had no issues. I have not used the writer or light scribe features. But for the price these were bonus feature for me anyway.

Cons: None.
