5 out of 5 eggsWonderful!

Pros: Quiet, just as fast as my internal drive, not cheap feeling, for the price its perfect!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: My laptop CD drive was having problems and could not read some game disks any more. So the easy thing to do was to get an external drive. I saw this one was on sale and so I got it. For the price its wonderful. I plug it in and there were all ready drivers for it in Windows Vista. I did not need the drivers that came with it. Just plug it in and it went with no problem. I installed the games I needed and it ran just as fast as the internal drive. The USB did not seem to slow it down at all. I am very pleased with this drive. If you have no need to run blue ray or any high quality video on it then its perfect. I have not tried any video disks on it just yet nor will I ever. It is just for installing programs.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job!

Pros: Great price.
Very fast.
Works with netbook and laptop

Cons: Assembled in 2008, this is 2011

Other Thoughts: This is a great deal for those who need an external drive for installing software on a netbook. Started to build my own from components, but this price could not be beat. I did not need a drive to carry along with the netbook

5 out of 5 eggsgreat Drive

Pros: Beefy Drive, very sturdy and works great on all my Laptops, 2 using XP and another using Vista.. All recognized the drive immediately after hook up and installed instantly. This drive is exactly what I was looking for. I really had no need for a small lightweight and portable drive. This will primarily set on a desk and used whenever needed. It is Robust add very quiet in operation. It has it's own power supply and is capabable of anythin you may ask of it. My Asus netbook is now complete...

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Love the fact that it has an external power supply, Just plug into a usb port and go.....,

4 out of 5 eggsSecond one worked perfect

Pros: Plugged in, recognized in Windows 7 and worked correctly right away.. I have watched a DVD, and copied..

Cons: None so far, except 1st one froze my computer several times working on and off, but always ended up having to unplug and reboot computer.. Second one was ready soon as it fired up.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to copy my own DVDs, and so far has been fine..not the fastest but for the price I would say it's great.. Thanks to Newegg for the quick and easy replacement..

5 out of 5 eggsDoes a great job

Pros: Very fast.

Cons: Doesn't do Blu-Ray.
Can't cure cancer.
The USB cable is a tad short, but the power cord is, so no worries.
A little bit bigger than an internal drive.
Drive spin up isn't as quiet as a mouse on the night before Christmas.

Other Thoughts: This is my first drive that isn't OEM. I normally don't use drives, but as I just bought a M11x, which has no drive, and I need a drive for some work use, I had to buy one.

A test for you to om nom nom on:

2 year old CD-R that I burned and haven't used with 18 audio Mp3 files. In total 66.69 minutes. Average song length 4.1 minutes. It took about 10-12 seconds to import a 4 minute song. Not bad, not bad. I'm digging my purchase.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast shipping, clean finish (after you remove the thin plastic), and acceptable burning/reading performance.

Cons: Drive seems to go into an "infinite spin" mode from time to time after burning or reading a disc for a period. Nothing can be read/burned in this time, the light blinks continuously, and the disk cannot be ejected (neither through the button or software-wise through drive managers). Even powering down the drive has no effect.

The only way I've found to eject the disk at this stage is to use the "force" eject mechanical button with a paper clip / pin.

I will likely RMA the device if problem continues to occur throughout the week.

Other Thoughts: Strange to admit, but the drive arrived with an adult film DVD in it. Assumed to be left by previous owner. This is more of a forewarning to anyone who may be purchasing the device boxed for another individual.

5 out of 5 eggsMade MOM happy

Pros: I know PC Hardware faily well, but I know my MOM, and Mom needed a I took care of it. I have one of these so I know it is I can only say...time will tell if Mom will need an RMA...I think not though.

Cons: None yet...and if it is...not an Egg issue, it will be just another hardware issue as it CAN happen...test it good before the warranty runs out.

Other Thoughts: I asked New Egg to get it to Mom fast...they did it like as if they lived next door...THANKS NEW EGG!!!
Mom had a happy Mom's Day!!!

5 out of 5 eggsRefurb doesn't mean ragged

Pros: Does everything it's supposed to, just like a new one

Cons: Nada

Other Thoughts: Running great, wouldn't know it was a refurb. I got the little warranty with it too, to avoid any issues with DOA or a short lifespan - after all, it IS portable and that increases the chance of early failure. I like the fact that it's sturdy, a heavier, stronger feel than the ones out there now that just run off of USB (and you always need two USB ports with those)
