1 out of 5 eggsSuper Dud

Pros: Seemed to write to DVD-R

Cons: RMA'd the first drive because it wouldn't read any discs, even the disc that ships with it. Paid $11 to ship it back, got a replacement 2 weeks later, second unit won't read any discs either! Save your money...

Other Thoughts: Not even worth the $ to ship back for a refund, I'm going to get more enjoyment out of smashing this piece! Wish I could give it zero eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsThis product is true to the LG name

Pros: It's hard to place pros and cons on a simple burner.

- Cheap but reliable
- Great R&W speeds
- Very Quiet

Cons: None that I can think of because I'm not it's main user.

Other Thoughts: No complaints and the disks it burns have yet to have an error due to the burning process.

5 out of 5 eggsReally recommend LG

Pros: After owning over 12 LG Burners over the course of the last 4 years (I have a LOT of computers), not a single one has died. I am even typing this in a room of 9 custom built PCs and every one of the PCs have an LG Burner of some type. They are quick, silent and last a long time

Cons: Not an issue other than I wish DVD media would advance as quick to the higher burning speeds (8x Burn is still common). I did notice that the audio ports on this are switched (L is where R is supposed to be and vice-versa), not sure if it matters, didn't to me. (I use digital audio through iTunes)

Other Thoughts: Not a single one has died, had tray issues (opening/closing/etc) or been loud. LG makes good drives, and they work great in both the SATA and IDE Varieties. Decent burn speeds. It's funny that sometimes the cheapest drives are also the longest lasting. I have a Blu Ray burner by another maker that died within 3 months and was replaced.
