5 out of 5 eggsUH12LS28

Pros: For those of you who want BD-R __WRITER__ and LightScribe capability (newegg at present doesn't carry such drives) but there is an LG drive like that is available--it's model number is BH12LS38 by LG... just a heads up to all of you. I know I looked long on newegg hoping to find such a drive and couldn't for a long time until I looked on bay and found right away what I was looking for!

Cons: Those of you who complain that this drive doesn't WRITE BD-R disks read the description carefully--it's only a READER for BD-R disks.... just a heads up.

Other Thoughts: I prefer other brands to LG but what can you do? It's only one of the very few drives available out there and the cheapest one as well that writes BD-Rs and has the LightScribe capability as well. What do I not like about LG drives? LG drives have crooked face logo on each one of them--that really puts me off because I like nice looking computer. Good drive though--I recommend it. It has a rubber band based drive mechanism vs. gears like in some other drives so it might not last as long because of that.

5 out of 5 eggsIt simply works

Pros: Inexpensive and works like it is supposed to be. It reads and plays blu-ray discs.

Cons: I don't like the front cover looks but I bought an inexpensive drive anyways.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: BRD, DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW, etc...

Cons: CD that does with it is junk. at least on Win7Ult. trying to load software ended up PSD of me and then I had to start over with my install. MAJOR PIA. Drive seems solid, but don't use the CD or software on the CD.. download the drivers off of the internet.

5 out of 5 eggsLG is good

Pros: Great price for an oem drive, plays Blurays as advertised. Black color and horizontal line Matches my case (HAF 912) and lcd panel (Samsung 226BW), bonus.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Mine did not come with Powerdvd, oh well. I downloaded Corel Windvd
from their website for $59.00, (same price I got the LG drive for). I was hoping by now the Bluray patented software would be free and native on Windows 7 but that is still not a reality. I am not alone with that opinion , just browse the Microsoft website and see other peoples questions/comments/complaints about it, more importantly The Microsoft responses. It is kind of hilarious. Come on Bluray codec, I mean really, how much longer do we have to wait for freeware?

5 out of 5 eggsPlays Blu-Ray

Pros: Works as advertised.

Came with Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 Software to play DVD and Blu-Ray -- Plays Blu-Ray as well as my Panasonic stand alone Blu-Ray player. Don't know if this OEM product always comes this way.

Cons: None the way I use it.

It is hyper noisy when running at max speed (loudest thing I've ever heard in any of my many computer cases). However, quiet for normal operations, DVD playing, and Blu-Ray playing (quiet case fans are more audible). Basically, like all my other optical drives in normal use.

Other Thoughts: Used in HTPC. AMD FX4100 CPU, AMD HD7750 GPU, ASRock motherboard, Panasonic 54" Plasma.

Cyberlink Software suite is complete -- can edit video, make DVDs, play Blu-Ray, play music, etc. I had not expected a Blu-Ray player or software with this OEM drive. A nice surprise.

Whole package only cost me $40 (after $10 promo and $10 gift card applied w/free shipping) -- a true bargain for what I got.

Playing video off HTPC allows me to use huey-Pro color calibrator on my Plasma TV -- great calibrated color.
