Other Thoughts: I liked the first drive that I bought so much that I bought a second for another build. This drive operates with very little vibration or noise. It's burned anything that I threw at it. Burns ISO images quick and reliably. The included burning software in the retail box is quite good. I'm very pleased with this purchase. Nice value.

Pros: When it works, it's OK. It occasionally burns a Blu-ray data disc without creating a coaster.

Cons: The Blu-ray playback software is a joke. I bought two of these and I cannot play a Blu-ray movie on either one. This may be due to CyberLink's PowerDVD which does not work well.

Other Thoughts: Went and bought a $40 Blu-ray player that works just fine.

Pros: Works like it's supposed to. I don't have a 3D tv or monitor, so I can't test that out, but I'm happy.

Some of the reviews I feel are those who either don't have the product or don't know what they're doing. I had and have no issues.

They give you a free 25GB Blu-Ray disc. I don't know what I'd do with it; it's BD-R, so maybe family movies.

Cons: warrenty suppose to be 1 year part and labor but if u have problem with this drive after 1 month lg company will tell u : we cant do anything for u coz u are canadian!!! So if u canadian u dont have any warrenty on this produt ! thank u LG.

Pros: Quiet drive that works well. No coasters in burning 80+ high quality CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray disks. Brands used: Taiyo Yuden (all formats) and Verbatim (BD-R and DVD-DL). Multiple coasters with lesser quality media - here's looking at you Rosewill and Memorex.

Cons: Slower Blu-Ray and DVD read times than other drives with the same specs. Extracting files takes 10-15% longer than on Lite-On, Samsung, or Sony drives. DiscSpeed benchmarks also reflect this. Not a huge difference, but it's there.

Other Thoughts: As noted above, this drive does not burn reliably when fed disks from some manufacturers. Only three out of 9 Rosewill and Memorex DVD and BD-R disks burned successfully compared to no failures in over 80 T-Y and Verbatim disks.

This LG drive can be purchased in retail packaging (that's what this review is for) or OEM. The only difference is the retail pack comes with a SATA cable and a blank BD-R disk. Whein I ordered it, both flavors were priced the same, but the retail version offered free shipping while the OEM did not. Easy choice.

If the prices diverge in the future, the bundled Verbatim BD-R retails for approximately five bucks while the SATA cable is, to be honest, junk. It's the same red cable that MB manufacturers such as Asusand others included in the early days of SATA. At the time, the cables were so flaky that Asus would send free replacements of a different brand when any SATA problems arose. For grins, I connected the LG burner with the bundled cable. It worked. I the disconnected and reconnected the cable several times. Windows no longer recognized the drive. Moral: Even with the retail kit, you should plan on getting a decent SATA cable.

Other Thoughts: cd, dvd, dvd dual layer all burn and read very fast. havent burned any blu-ray yet, but reads them like a charm

Other Thoughts: I have seen concerns about the noise of the DVD-ROM but I have none. The burner was a breeze to install and works great. I have not burned but a couple of CD's and all have been error free. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Pros: Fast drive, quiet, easy installation.

Cons: This drive is great except it DOES NOT COME WITH BLU-RAY AUTHORING SOFTWARE for videos. It comes with Cyberlink's Power Producer 5 DVD which can be upgraded for $50s to author(make title menus, etc) blu-ray movies. You can make data Blu-Ray discs with the included software using the Power2Go but i don't care about that when i have 3TBs of storage and an external drive for backup.

Other Thoughts: i hate cyberlink, i hate their customer support, and i hate being mislead when purchasing a product. i will most likely purchase Ashampoo Burning Studio 12 instead of Cyberlink.

Pros: I have been able to play old and some times impossible to read by other readers DVDs.

Cons: Bundled software is kind of old. I wish I could find where can I download the lg burner software.
