1 out of 5 eggsSomething horribly wrong.

This review is from: LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter without Software, Black Model WH14NS40 - OEM

Pros: Seems quite, at least for the couple of discs it was able to read.

Cons: Hardly used and does not recognize disc. Maybe read 3-4 items and never burned anything. Now it ejects disc when inserted. Don't know if I got a lemon but unfortunately it is too old to do anything about it. A waste of money for me!

Other Thoughts: I can't not recommend this if it is just a lemon but for this particular drive in my possession I will have to give it the minimal egg rating.

2 out of 5 eggsNever used... EVER !!!

This review is from: LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter without Software, Black Model WH14NS40 - OEM

Pros: GOOD REVIEWS, maximum compatibility with discs, multi format, blue led, version i received has a 'no show'

eject button

Cons: DOA , Sorta' .... i put it in my computer and did not own any Blu-ray discs, before i got any ,... i kinda lost
interest in having discs to backup stuff cause 98% of all digital stuff is out there 'online'..... 1 year later ,
upgraded to new PC, brought it over since it was modern'ish new tech , 6 months later, DeadPooL Blu-Ray is released,
and i want to watch it in the best possible quality i can afford (4K too expensive but affordable), i pop it in **see
next topic** , and nothing , dead, CD's don't read , DVD's don't read Blu-Rays , nothing reads , tried blowing dust
out ** nothing drive is bad, DEAD, stillborn ,.....

**next topic**
I never checked the drive after moving to new pc... oh well..... When i opened the drive to play my Blu-Ray Dead Pool
movie with deleted scenes and extras you cant get online anywhere ( i have been trying every where), the side of the
inside internal tray, had dust caked on it,... SOooo!!! ... That means when this drive is closed, it lets dust into
itself.... So, if the drive worked ever..... it would never last very long, only weeks.... 1 year and a half .
imagine if your bluray player and HDTV broke every year and you had to spend hundreds $$ to replace them...

Other Thoughts: needs to be sealed, better, against dust, while it is closed, ..... need to reduce failure rate thingy....

2 out of 5 eggsLasted less than 7 months

This review is from: LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter without Software, Black Model WH14NS40 - OEM

Pros: Price is low for a Blu-Ray writer

Cons: Lasted less than 7 months before it wouldn't read or write a single disk. Can't be bothered with the Parts 1 year, labor 90 days policy. Labor will likely cost more than to buy a competitor's product.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

This review is from: LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter without Software, Black Model WH14NS40 - OEM

Pros: The drive itself works perfectly, just be aware it doesn't come with software. Blu-Ray playing software for pc can be very pricey but after quick search I was able to find a decent free blu-ray playing program. You can find it here
http://www.leawo.com/blu-ray-player/

Cons: Doesn't come with software

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

This review is from: LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter without Software, Black Model WH14NS40 - OEM

Pros: It works
No lag - tray pops out immediately upon pressing the eject button

Cons: Not really a con but it makes some weird noise when you turn the computer on. Doesn't affect performance or anything so it's not really a con.

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried writing yet, but I use this in my HTPC and it plays Blu-ray movies just fine (Windows 7 Pro)
Got it with a coupon code and paid a very reasonable price for it (~$40)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat addition to modern pc

This review is from: LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter without Software, Black Model WH14NS40 - OEM

Pros: Plays bluray movies with pretty much any of the free online players
Burns with Nero, tested and works fine
Plenty fast enough to burn the 6x discs that are currently available

Cons: Doesn't support 4k bluray (at least not yet, not with any of the software I tried including Power DVD 15, mpc, vlc, and others)

Other Thoughts: Would recommend this over the 16x drives, I have yet to find recordable media faster than 10x, most common and cheapest available are 6x discs so why bother with 16x write speed, save a few bucks and get the 14x drive. Works well, played a few movies on it, haven't tested dvd or cd burning.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not burn or even recognize blank Blu-Rays

This review is from: LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter without Software, Black Model WH14NS40 - OEM

Pros: It reads CDs and DVDs with no issues.

Cons: It simply does not accept blank Blu-Rays. I purchased a recommended 10-pack of Verbatim BD-R's and this burner doesn't even see that there's something in the drive. Even after assuming I may have had a bad disc...not a single one in the pack was recognized. Windows 10 sees nothing, either, with a "Please insert a disc into drive E" message. Nero sees nothing and refuses to burn files to a blank BR, also showing the message "Please insert disc into drive". The WH14NS40 is worthless, since burning Blu-Rays is the main reason to purchase it, and it can't even do that at all. I wish I had seen the other negative reviews on here before buying this - I suppose, the cheap price should have put up a red flag.
