2 out of 5 eggswhen it actually works......

Pros: It reads Blu-ray movies with programs that are not provided. the DVD burner function is fast,

Cons: Constant seek issues.... not sure what else to call it but when I turn on the PC it will just seek nonstop, the only way to stop it is to unplug the power on the back of the drive wait a few secs and plug it back in. It occasionally even happens while trying ti use the drive. I have tried restarting the PC with no luck. I am not sure how to fix this, so it becomes quite useless often, luckily I have 2 other SATA DVD burners I can use. I have flashed the firmware to the latest version it still has this issue.

Other Thoughts: When it works it works great but the problem is, Ihave to leave the side of my pc off all the time so I can unplug and plug this drive back in at least 3 times a week

2 out of 5 eggsThink Twice

Pros: Fairly fast 12X BD-ROM

Cons: OEM = no software period. Call me silly, but I thought the expensive Drive ($69 on sale back then) would at least include a link to Blu-ray player software. It does not. It will read Blu-Ray data disks, but it will not play Blu-ray movies unless you spend another $50+ on software.

Other Thoughts: It is an OEM drive after all, but what good is it? CyberLink PowerDVD 13 Ultra costs $79!!! Yikes!

4 out of 5 eggsUseful yet unnecessary

Pros: This is awesome if you plan to put a blu-ray drive in your custom build, it runs discs very quickly and doesn't make much noise if any at all.

Cons: If you think that putting a blu-ray drive in your computer will automatically allow you to watch blu-ray movies and such? Think again, you will either have to buy an expensive program to do so, or do what I did and go through some extensive means such as downloading programs that basically "rip" the disc and stream it to you live while actually writing the movie as a file on your computer(which can be discarded later). Just a forewarning because I did not know this myself when I first bought this, but it works now so it's not a problem anymore.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Black and sleek....loads fast.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: OEM so there is no software. I suggest WinDVD instead of paying an arm and a leg for PowerDVD.

3 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Does what it says it does. It read and writes DVDs, and is capable of reading blu-ray.

Cons: As stated in other reviews, it's not capable out of the box of actually doing anything with blu-ray. I'm still testing out different programs to find one that's optimum for this.

Mine's a bit on the noisy side. Others have mentioned how quiet it is- mine might be a bit anomalous.

Other Thoughts: Despite the problems above and the 3 egg rating, I do actually like this drive- I don't see myself using it all that much to do anything but rip new CDs, watch movies and emulate old playstation games, but it works precisely as intended.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive for a low price

Pros: Drive is all it is described as. Plays Blue Ray discs flawlessly.
Only flaw is that it did not come with Software. I had LG software from another drive, but I have no software to burn Blue Ray Discs. I had to buy software.

Cons: No Software included

Other Thoughts: Does not come with any software
