1 out of 5 eggsDont buy

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 Ultra Slim External DVDRW Model GP60NB50

Pros: plays cds is about all I am getting out of this piece of worthless technology.

Cons: short usb cord, should be called a cd player instead of dvd, only gave 1 egg for the fact that it plays music and rips cds was only sent the usual that feature is only available with the upgrade feature.

Other Thoughts: should of spent the extra money and gone for better drive
ie. ASUS or even ACER come to mind.

2 out of 5 eggsWill not use it

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 Ultra Slim External DVDRW Model GP60NB50

Pros: inexpensive, convenient

Cons: installs unwanted software without recourse... checks for upgrades every time you start your system. Created conflict with other installed software.

Other Thoughts: If I had not damaged the box, I would have returned it...

4 out of 5 eggsSlim USB DVDWriter

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 Ultra Slim External DVDRW Model GP60NB50

Pros: Nice slim unit. Worked as advertised. Plug it in and away you go.

Cons: The cable is short. Really short. Like maybe twelve inches if that. I had to get an extension cable to run behind my desk to hook it up to one of my rear USB ports because I didn't want to take up one of my front ports. It only burns at 8 speed and reads at 8x because it runs on the USB 2.0 bus.

Other Thoughts: As long as you know what your getting this is a nice piece of kit. I decided to bail out on the traditional front mounted optical drive and I don't regret it for all the more I use an optical drive this unit makes sense. If I need an optical drive on another computer or ultra book I can use this drive if I have to. Its portable, its fast, and its inexpensive. You really can't go wrong.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage Dont Buy

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 Ultra Slim External DVDRW Model GP60NB50

Pros: NONE

Cons: Contacted LG and got nowhere, and the cost of sending it to LG for repair will cost you more than the drive and not only that LG does not warranty after 90 days Parts only, so if you buy this item you can forget the warranty.
Not worth the hassle, spend on something better.

Other Thoughts: Worked 1 time to install some software on a laptop, than was lying around on a shelf for a few months. Now I tried using it And nothing Just dead Garbage don't buy, I’ll work for you a few times and then Garbage don't waste your money

1 out of 5 eggsWouldn't install

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 Ultra Slim External DVDRW Model GP60NB50

Pros: None

Cons: Wouldn't install on Windows 7 SP1. I tried LG online support and they couldn't help either. Definitely not newegg's fault.
