5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: I was going to get a second DVD writer but I wanted to play my Blu-Rays so I purchased this one as it had a great price and good ratings. Besides I trust LG products, have never owned one that has ever gone bad on me.

Cons: This is not a con for the drive itself, but you should know that there is no Blu-Ray software with it because this is an OEM. No Microsoft OS has Blu-Ray technology built in, you are going to have to buy a third party software. Microsoft is too stingy to pay for the licensing to add Blu-Ray capabilities to their OS. It's all over the internet.

Other Thoughts: WinDVD is a good one, so is PowerDVD and Aurora. Personally I went with WinDVD, it's around $60 but without something like this the Drive by itself is useless.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected so far.

Pros: Installed without a hassle, and so far it works with both DVD and Bluray discs.

Cons: None so far. The test, I guess, will be how long it lasts.

Other Thoughts: I just needed a Bluray reader. The absence of player software was not an issue for me. Just remember that you don't get anything with the drive: no software, no SATA cables.

5 out of 5 eggsAs Advertised

Pros: Delivered at the speed of "THE EGG~!" you know so fast that you get that knock at the door and first thing you think is Da**.... my Blue Ray player is already here... man that is one fast ***** company.....

Geez solid quality Blue Ray player for $34 delivered to my door in 3 days... the egg is killing it... I mean killin it!

Ya I know, its suppose to be about the product but for me, when I'm buying something that cost less then 50 bucks... it tends to be about the service.. and the fact of the matter is.. newegg blowin the doors of this ******* when it comes to top shelf service... but u know this don't ya?

Cons: Newegg needs to start a Newegg shirt promo... seriously... I got mine from the egg.... know you need to get yours!
Neweggs... the new return policy has taking some of the shine off the over the top customer service of the egg... and the boys at The-Tiger-direct... they coming on strong when matching apples to apples with the egg... keep an eye on them newegg..Need to get more aggressive with the pricing.....

Other Thoughts: Let it be known far and wide... I love the egg. I check the site everyday.. regardless of if Im buying or not... gotta get my egg fix for the day.. Keep on killing them egg! Happy with my latest purchase

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: Works as expected with an optical drive. Installation is easy (depends on your case though) and it's perfect for my needs. Read my Memtest86+ disc with no trouble at all.

Cons: None at the moment.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked OK until it died.

Pros: Worked as it should, although it didn't come with software and I needed a 3rd party Blu-ray movie software.

Cons: Bought it in 5/14 and just died. Won't read, write, or even spin up a disc.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: looks nice

Cons: It powers up, but won't read anything to save its life. didn't try blueray yet, but thats not its primary function in my pc. CD and DVD won't load very well, if at all. Music cd's won't play smoothly, and installing something off of a cd or dvd is hopeless, if the computer even recognizes it is there. going to be returning

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not read BD disks after 4 months

Pros: Worked well for 4 months. Quiet and fast.

Cons: Stopped reading BD disks after 4 months.

Other Thoughts: It is too late to return it to Newegg and do I really want the hassle of a LG warranty claim? I recycled the shipping packaging weeks ago.

I suppose I'll give ASUS a try next.

2 out of 5 eggsNew, doesn't play blu ray

Pros: It does play a dvd or cd, have used it to load up a program.

Cons: It does not know that it is a blu ray player. When you go to the Cyberlink company and you get an essential download player/burner free software, it does not include blu ray function either.

Other Thoughts: I agree with other reviewers. I have used 2 LG read/write everything up to blu ray for years now on my main computer, have produced 33- 2 hour blu ray movie discs on them, have copied blu ray to blu ray, have played them through the software that came with them. What a disappointment , after trusting the name LG for this, I bought this item for my husband's use on a lesser computer, only to find it will not play blu ray or recognize that it has that function. My son thought I could check out my blu ray movies while burning other copies by using a second computer. I tried the older software from my other LG blu ray drives and that didn't work either. Tried a free download from Cyberlink and that didn't work. If my son discovers that it is only a setting, then I will change this review, but I agree with another reviewer that I should not have bought oem, but rather bought one complete with its own software.
