1 out of 5 eggsIncomplete Order, Didn't work

Pros: I'd let you know it it worked.

Cons: Did not include USB Y power cable.
Did not work with replacement USB Y cable

Other Thoughts: Received the unit with just a mini-USB cable, when a Y cable should have been included. I tacked one onto another order from a company that has everything from A to Z (won't let me say that company name), since it was a couple bucks. No joy with that cable either. Not eligible for return or refund, so guess I'm sunk.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price

Pros: Very pleased. Small footprint and just works perfectly. Also I should add that LG customer support is excellent since I had to call them to clarify a service issue.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Small size, light weight.

Cons: Doesn't include the necessary USB mini Y cable. Device constantly disconnecting. Windows doesn't recognize. Won't read discs.

Other Thoughts: The first problem I noticed after opening the box was that the wrong type of USB cable was included. It came with a regular mini-USB cable, but this drive requires a Y-cable (uses 2 USB ports on your computer) in order to supply enough power to drive. I tried the drive with the included cable, and it was initially recognized. I inserted a disc and could hear it spin up, but that was the end. I just get repeated USB Device Not Recognized error message. Drive won't show up in windows explorer. Can't read or write discs. I hope newegg will process return, but I still have the time and expense of shipping this drive back.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect match for Chromebook

Pros: I didn't even bother with rebate, it's worth $20 to me easily. Works on a single thick wire to my one free USB port on my Acer C720 and matches the charcoal color perfectly. First review ever here so that's how much I like it. PnP on both laptops, runs HD DVD without a problem.

Cons: could of got it for $10 if I didn't hate rebates so much.

4 out of 5 eggsJust what my little ultrabook needed

Pros: Had no problems installing on Dell utlrabook windows 7. I have lots of data, pics, music on Cds. This unit worked well with everything so far. Haven't tried movies or video yet. First computer without a DVD drive and I was kinda lost - not anymore! I like how light weight it is - easy to travel with. That's why I went with the ultrabook - to travel with less weight. Now I'll be able to transfer things to the cloud. I don't think I'd ever go back to an internal DVD drive because of the added weight and size of a laptop.

Cons: there are two usb connections for this unit but then there is no power cord. I would have given it 5 stars if it only used one usb port but it's not really that big of a deal.

Other Thoughts: Having never used a portable DVD player this worked out better than expected.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes not require special USB cable

Pros: Thin
Small footprint
Looks nice
Burns well

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I just want to comment that this only requires using 2 USB ports on OLD laptops (we're talking 1990-2000), most of which are out of circulation, or too old to use anyway.

I use this with my Zotac HTPC which has a slightly smaller footprint (although is thicker). My HTPC only has four USB ports, and this only takes up ONE. If you'd like to get another cable that can be used for this, look for the Mini USB cables (not micro like your Android phone, just a bit bigger), so then you won't have the extra USB plug dangling from the back/side of your PC/laptop.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for what it is

Pros: thin
brushed black aluminum (matches my VAIO laptop perfectly)

Cons: requires 2 USB ports and special included cable.
no external AC power possible
Install program is poorly designed.

Other Thoughts: It's a decent portable burner. The two USB ports required must be within a couple of inches of each other. Fortunately, I had two as required or this would have been an instant return.
