2 out of 5 eggsPoor compatibility with Macs/Mac OS X

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 External CD/DVD Rewriter With M-Disc Support (Black)-model GP65NB60

Pros: -When it does work, it really is plug and play
-quiet

Cons: -It's listed as compatible with Mac OS X but I wouldn't be recognized at all by my brother's Macbook Pro 13" (pretty sure its not more than a year or two old) running Yosemite. It wouldn't show in Disk Utility or anything and there's no firmware to try to fix the problem. On my sister's Macbook Air (2014) DVDs showed up, but I had errors when trying to play them, Audio CDs worked fine, though you had to mount all discs through Disk Utility. On my MacBook Pro 15" (2015) Everything worked perfectly...
-LG needs to really hold to their claims of compatibility. It's disappointing.

Other Thoughts: -I wouldn't recommend this to any Mac user except 2015 Macbook Pro owners, because thats the only machine it worked as described with. I can't comment on usage with PCs.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding price, great item, fast shipping

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 External CD/DVD Rewriter With M-Disc Support (Black)-model GP65NB60

Pros: This is a great little external disc drive. For little money, I've been able to put all our CDs on our computer and in the cloud. Now I can get rid of them!

Cons: No cons.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely order from this vendor again.

4 out of 5 eggsLG USB 2.0 External CD/DVD Rewriter With M-Disc Support (Black)-model GP65NB60

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 External CD/DVD Rewriter With M-Disc Support (Black)-model GP65NB60

Pros: Installed required software , pluged in the included Usb cord , it worked outta the box , no hickups or problems , used it ti burn my Win 7 ISO image , and a Win XP Pro ISO image , takes about 15 minutes to burn Win 7, and about 6 minutes to burn Win XP Pro .
Used also for installing my F1 2010 , F1 2012 , Dirt3 , and many other games , worked great ,I now use it to play these games as its required to have the game disk installed to play them ..

Cons: A bit slow on burning but look at the stated burning speeds ,, it won`t burn at a faster internal Dvd writer speed , but you should know this if you read all the Specifications when researching ..

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great Dvd reader , writer for a HTPC build , does as required for a portable drive A +++

5 out of 5 eggsFor the money - great for laptop!

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 External CD/DVD Rewriter With M-Disc Support (Black)-model GP65NB60

Pros: I am very pleased how well this drive has worked so far. Powered completely from USB connecter. Burnt DVD's without any coasters. This is a great price effective CD/DVD rewriter. You can watch movies from it, burn CD/DVD without any hassle. It is very slim and light weight.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I was worried that it would need an external power source, even though I could not find any documentation saying it was needed. Other CD/DVD writers I have had needed the external power or second USB port. No need to worry about it.

4 out of 5 eggsSwift and Quiet

This review is from: LG USB 2.0 External CD/DVD Rewriter With M-Disc Support (Black)-model GP65NB60

Pros: Single cable connection for power and data is fantastic for something with moving parts. The drive works as advertised, with decent speed and less noise than I had been anticipating.

Cons: This is not the fastest DVD drive I've ever worked with (though it seems to be nearly 50% faster than the only other drive currently functional in my household, which is in a 17" Dell laptop that is serving primary duty as desktop replacement and rarely leaves its dock). The finish seems easy to scratch, and the unit as a whole feels a little under built, but what can you expect at this price point? You can still spend more money on an equivalent unit meant for internal installation in a desktop machine, and that requires the support of a full on case and external power supply (not to mention a separate data cable).
