1 out of 5 eggsBad Experience!

Pros: Its Returnable!

Cons: Really Picky per media it likes. Can only get it to work with the really thin cheap stuff. Cant get it to recognise any major brand of lightscribe media that my other unit will! LightScribe is a little thicker and my unit doesnt like any of it at all!

Also hangs shutdown/restart on every machine i try it on! Must unplug it on shutdown/restart of it takes 5 to minutes to power off! A real pain!
Only occasionally/intermittantly will it work correctly!

A Real Pain compared to other externals i've used...

Other Thoughts: A Bad Outa the box Experience! And it never gets any better... Picky on Media that works in other units. And Unreliable! And Squeaky Noisy when it does work...
And a real annoying time waster cause it will work sometimes... and an Iffy unit is a real pain!
Might just be this unit, but i'm movin on!

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Overall good burner for a netbook.

Cons: If the USB connectory gets moved then the divice will drop and you'll have to completely disconnect it and reconnect it. Also the version on Nero is outdated.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for travelers!!!

Pros: Works as advertised; great for having mobile CD/DVD access/burning capability for notebook owners; instantly recognized by the operating system so I was able to install the included Nero software CD; light and sleek design; relatively quiet; includes a stand that actually works very well and yet is simple and small to carry around.

Cons: Not for “on the go” CD/DVD access/burning; not really a “con” since the product specs covers the fact that is non-USB powered.

Other Thoughts: Funny how many people buy stuff without researching the item; I knew I was buying a non-USB powered external CD/DVD drive and I was very pleased, I can see somebody not reading the product specs getting disappointed upon receiving the product, but hey! Who’s to blame in that case? I have one of those slim and light notebooks with no CD/DVD drive, so this product matched my needs perfectly. Like I said before, it allows a frequent traveler that operates out of a notebook without a CD/DVD drive to have the capability within reach when needed –simple enough.

3 out of 5 eggsHP External drive

Pros: Small, burns DVD's. Works out of the box fine. Comes with Nero. Was free shipping so this beat the price of the Liteon that is what this is.

Cons: Reboxed Liteon with HP name screened on. Not powered by USB.. Has a clunky power supply the size of a laptop. Recommended by HP for my model laptop.

Other Thoughts: I should have looked more closely at the description. It works. I would buy a product that can run from USB for portability.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Small, Portable, Looks Good, HP

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It requires an external source of power instead of USB powered. I knew this before I purchased and had concidered other brands that were USB powered but, I ended up buying this one because I trust the HP name.
