5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best PC-related purchases ever

Pros: This thing is a beast for an external CD burner. I actually have a slightly older model - the 940 but I've used it to burn hundreds of discs and have maybe only had a couple of failures so overall about a 97% success rate. Which is still excellent. Cost is great for this type of drive considering I've paid nearly three - four times that amount for slower burners that have had many failed discs. The included software and utilities are excellent and I really dig Nero software. It's far superior to Roxio any day of the week. The Lightscribe software included is also far superior to Roxio's as well since you can burn completely custom labels on it and not have to conform to the included templates.

Cons: If you're buying this for the Lightscribe feature keep in mind that on an external drive it's painfully slow. The labels can take anywhere from 18 - 30 minutes to burn. It's also bigger and bulkier than your average slim burner so that's something you may want to consider as well. Plus it requires its own power supply as well as opposed to running completely off USB.

Other Thoughts: If Newegg ever gets these back in stock buy one - you shall not be disappointed.

Pros: I've had this a little over a month now and have been backing up files to DVD and burning movies and videos to DVD and I have had no problems with it. I am currently considering buying a couple more for my sons.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsExpected Results

Pros: Same core drive that I spent much more cash for a few months ago (Lite-On) external from Wal-Mart. Specs of the drive itself are exactly the same. If you need a new DVD drive and do not want to pull your PC apart to replace a failed internal, this is a nice option. It plugs right into any USB2.0 port, an external power supply powers it.

Cons: Nothing significant. It is black, collects dust.

Other Thoughts: I have yet to burn any DVDs but I looked up the specs for the drive, it is the same mechanical core as Lite-On DVD lightscribe writers. I think the other external I bought was over 70$, so this was a good find.

1 out of 5 eggsIt works if it feels like it

Pros: I'll tell you when I find out

Cons: Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Tried different brands of CD's, same result. Good thing CD's are cheap, it has ruined several. Just as a test, try to find updated drivers for this piece of junk.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Burner - Very Pleased

Pros: Burns all types of DVD's, not just +r's!!! Comes with Nero software. Excellent bang for the buck! C'mon, for this price, how could you go wrong?

Cons: It's a full size external drive so it takes up some desk/shelf space.

Other Thoughts: Just get it. This drive writes to every kind of disc and is plug n play.
