Pros: Works sometimes

Cons: CDs come out with bad tracks. I burn preview copies of albums that I mix and on today's CD 3 out of 10 tracks had errors (noises, artifacts, glitches, etc) through the entire track. I burned 4 lightscribe covers and one of them did not print properly. I needed a reliable drive and this is not it. The manufacture tag says it was made in 2007 - If I knew that I would not have purchased. It is also noisier than a newer drive.

Other Thoughts: I can't rely on this drive and won't be able to use it as a CD burner or for lightscribe covers. It seems ok as a reader but I could have gotten that for much less money.

Pros: Works. Windows System Information identifies this drive as a Samsung model TSSTcorp TS-H653Z. Unsure where Newegg came up with the HP model 447310-001.

The specs for the drive I received look like this:

I needed a Lightscribe drive. This drive works fine. Just hope it last a while.

Cons: Some confusion about the model. Newegg listed no performance specs.

Other Thoughts: The shipping carton was excellent with a lot of foam padding to protect the unit during shipment. Ship time was slow. Took about ten days to receive it.

Pros: Performs as I wanted/expected. It plays dvd's, burns and in particular, burns cd/dvd's w/lightscribe. I've only tried the lightscribe only once but, it's worked fine

Cons: None, so far.

Other Thoughts: Whenever I've had any problems (rarely) w/products bought from ne, they can't be beat for satisfactory resolutions.

Cons: Hard to find unsupported Lightscribe software. Took a lot of looking since HP doesn't support it.

Other Thoughts: I was pleasantly surprised that the DVD burn speed will go down to 4x unlike the cheapos. I wanted a lightscribe burner to replace my 7 yr old Pioneer (that still works but for how long?). Lightscribe is going to be history soon so better stock up while theres a chance to! I feel this burner is well worth the extra few bucks as it's well built and been flawless. Not much else to write about a burner...
