The Samsung WriteMaster SH-S202N is a triple-format PATA drive which reads and burns DVD, dual-layer DVD, and CD format media, and features LightScribe technology. Dual-layer DVD's hold up to 8.5 GB of data, and are ideal for users who need to backup or share large amounts of data. LightScribe technology lets you burn custom artwork and labels in silkscreen quality, directly onto LightScribe disc blanks. The WriteMaster's 20X DVD writer takes only 5 and a half minutes to write 4.7GB of data to a DVD±R disc.
Speed Adjustment technology matches the media needs; Tilt Actuator Compensation to adjust for deformed writing surfaces; and Double Optimum Power Control, which balances the laser power on the sides of the disc for enhanced writing performance. Solid Drive for a Reasonable Price
- Pros: This drive does everything, except Blue Ray....This is the second drive I purchased and it performs almost flawlessly. Good read and write speeds and very quiet. It's about all you can ask for in a drive.
- Cons: I don't know if others experience this problem, but both of my Samsung drives can be picky about certain disks. It will not read a few of my CD's and DVD's. I know it's not the disk's. I have a Sony drive as well and it reads the same disks without problem. Thats the only thing preventing a 5 egg rating.
- Other Thoughts: I've always been a fan of Samsung. They make good quality stuff. You can not do better than New Egg on computer parts. After looking at my invoice history and seeing how much I've spent on my machines, I can't believe I got so much for as little as I did.
Nice.
- Pros: Quiet, quick, lightweight and easy to install. Can burn CDs, DVDs, and make Lightscribe labels...All for alittle over 30$! Truely a fine deal!
Great for movies, you can hardly even hear the drive reading the disk.
- Cons: Comes with a suite of WAY to many Nero programs(over 1GB intall!). Use custom install.
- Other Thoughts: The drive it alittle smaller in size than my other original Manufacter drive. The drive tray is thinner than most, but it won't break unless you karate chop it.
