The Samsung WriteMaster SH-S202J is a triple-format IDE drive which reads and burns DVD, dual-layer DVD, and CD format media. Dual-layer DVD's hold up to 8.5 GB of data, and are ideal for users who need to backup or share large amounts of data. The WriteMaster's 20X DVD writer takes only five and a half minutes to write 4.7GB of data to a DVD±R disc.

A Weight Balancing System that reduces drive noise; Tilt Actuator Compensation to adjust for deformed writing surfaces; and Double Optimum Power Control, which balances the laser power on the sides of the disc for enhanced writing performance. WriteMaster makes backup and duplication of your vital data quick and economical.

Good basic burner

Pros: Works as it should. Reads and writes quickly and quietly. No issues with being loud, maybe I'm not as particular as some others. Worked immediately with Nero software I already had on PC. It was a nice bonus having the Nero come with it though for those who don't have it. Especially for an OEM version. Very cheap for what seems to be a nice, basic burner that does all I need.

Cons: It's a bit inexpensive as far as tray sturdiness. Not flimsy to a fault. Just not a robust, heavy duty model. But it is what it is intended to be. Which is a solid, inexpensive burner that works very well.

Other Thoughts: Works better than the original that came with my PC. Faster disk recognition. Quiter too. Doesn't say Samsung and is recognized as TSSP or something like that. Maybe another way to say Samsung?? To reviewer questioning packaging ???: This is an OEM version, not retail. OEM comes in plain wrap, not full retail packaging. That's why this one having software was so nice.

Pros: Great burner. I have two in the system and no problems with compatitiblity to both Nero 6 and Roxio 9 full versions. Love these burners!

Works well in my Powermac G5

Pros: Works well in iTunes, Toaster, iDVD, etc... Fast and quiet. I've burnt ~30 DVDs, only 1 of them came out bad.

Cons: Difficult to remove the face plate.

Other Thoughts: It turns out there's no need to remove the face plate for it to work in a powermac G5, as suggested in some websites. You only need to raise the back side a little by letting the screw heads in the back sticking out a little more.

GOOD DRIVE

Pros: Fast ,burns everthing I have tried and no problems.It recognizes all my disks and Vista 64 had no problem reognizes it when I install it.

Cons: Nothing really .all the drives now looks about the same and works about the same ,just some of them has better quaility control.

Other Thoughts: I have bought about 6 samsung DVD bruners and they all still work great.I wanted a IDE drive so I could use my SATA for harddrives.I can't tell no difference in speed from my SATA drives to this IDE drive.

Great DVD Burner

Pros: Inexpensive, reliable, good Nero suite.

Cons: Install only the part you need out of the Nero suite, otherwise it will fill you HDD.

Other Thoughts: This is a lot of drive for the price you paid, buy it and you won't regret it. It is very easy to upgrade firmware's with included manager.
