5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Small, Portable, Quiet. Plays every DVD I've ever tried, even ones my other computers couldn't play. Writes on every DVD-R media I've ever tried. Works great with my eeePC netbook. Does not require a power adapter, it is powered through the usb port. It doesn't need the extra usb connector unless I am burning a DVD. It has worked flawlessly for the past 4 or 5 years, even though it has bounced around in my car on several road trips. I'm a little disappointed it has been discontinued. If you find one of these and you don't care about Blu-ray, grab it.

Cons: It is discontinued.

4 out of 5 eggsrsbford

Pros: works just fine for casual use. self powered. light weight. burnes 8 gig disc's, tested on an vista32 laptop, sent to daughter who started with an xp laptop then upgraded the laptop to win7 with happy results. Burns, reads - causually mostly. Not a high production drive by the way it feels.

Cons: it's only 8x? darn!!! Can't it be cheaper? Price break by the unit maybe?

Other Thoughts: cheap, inexpensive, use xpburner software instead of the oem stuff

3 out of 5 eggsDoesn't like scratches

Pros: Works as advertized (for DVDs in very good condition).

Cons: Doesn't like worn DVDs. I use this to rip netflix DVDs for later viewing, and it struggles or fails on quite a few of them. More often than not, the old DVD drive built into my computer can still read the very same DVDs. It's not bad enough to consider defective, but not reliable enough to depend on.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for me

Pros: -no power chords
-slim design
-very portable
-decent read/write speeds

Cons: no 'con'ments

Other Thoughts: looking at the specs, this is exactly what i wanted right off the bat. the only thing that could make me dislike it is if it randomly stopped working sometime in the foreseeable future.

5 out of 5 eggsMore Info.

Pros: Was able to boot and be recognized by knoppix drivers.
The internal dvd on machine was not compatible with knoppix.
I now can take this to clients for recovery operations.

Cons: the usual two usb ports required as mentioned by everyone lese.

Other Thoughts: longevity and durability are hopefully there, we will see.....

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Great rip/burn capabilities. Plug and play.

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: It does take two usb ports... somewhat of a draw back. But not a con necessarily...

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine for me

Pros: Working fine on a MacBook Pro 13, MBA 11, EEEPC 904HA using a single USB outlet. Boots on those too.

Cons: Not real heavy duty, wouldn't depend on it for frequent use.

Other Thoughts: Probably good for what most people would use it for, occasional archiving, install
