5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Easy install, functions well, plays Blu-Rays from the get go. Sleek appearance.

Cons: Blue LED means you have to have a matching them for the computer case.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Perfectly

Pros: Works well for all formats. Burns cds and DVD's about as fast as older drives but has Blu-Ray. Attractive Faceplate.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: I bought this based on the faceplate. the drive door is a mirror and it matches very well with my CM 690ii Advanced Case.

4 out of 5 eggsMirror, Mirror

Pros: Gets the job done. I notice no difference in speed when ripping a DVD on this one compared to my 4 year old DVD drive. Definitely is quiet really only hear a noise from it on the initial reading of a disc after that I can't hear it. The front is nice looking.

Easy install windows 7 saw the drive on initial boot up.

Cons: The front while nice looking stands way out. The silver disk tray is really more like a mirror. Highly reflective. The open/close button doubles as the status light, which is a bright blue. Combination of large blue light blinking on and off while watching any disc may make this a bad choice for an HTPC. I see know easy way of disabling the light, not to mention the fact that you can't just cover it up since it is also the door button.

Other Thoughts: Included software works on windows 7, kind of. For some insane reason even if you disable the feature which is clearly labeled in the properties box of PowerDVD8 when you start to play a Blu-ray the program will disable Aero mode. This of course causes the screen the blink on/off during the change. When the movie is stopped Aero will turn back on. It says it is to insure quality of the movie, but that only makes sense if your comp is under powered. Watching the usage I can see that playing a Blu-ray isn't even breaking 50% of ram or cpu so there is no reason why Aero can't stay on.

On the other hand I'm not sure if you even have a choice not to use this software as I could find no free players out there. Hopefully Microsoft will update WMP to play Blu-ray, not great but always gets the job done.

5 out of 5 eggsA good choice

Pros: - Good price
- Quiet
- Seemingly low system resource usage
- Good blu-ray read speeds
- Good DVD write speels
- Free PowerDVD

Cons: Could be faster

Other Thoughts: I have been using this to "backup" blu-rays on to 8.5GB DVD DL's and using the lighscribe to make the label for the backup. Not a single bad burn so far. As far as "hiccups" i have noticed none.

5 out of 5 eggsBD lover

Pros: Fast x8, pretty, samsung, work 100%.

Cons: PowerDVD 8 suck is come free but don't lost you time instaling that, take a lot of time and them you go to uninstalling and is go to take you 20m of you time. We can only use 2.1 sound with Power DVD 8, and make your windows aero fail.

Other Thoughts: Use to see BD TotalMedia Theatre 3, its for PRO. Love it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Lightning fast and light on front of the drive isn't bright like I've read on reviews for other drives.

Installed quickly and was immediately recognized. No issues.

Cons: none thus far.

5 out of 5 eggsTerrific Blu-Ray Drive for Cheap

Pros: The drive installation couldn't have been simpler. I was also very pleased with the included copy of PowerDVD 8, as many BD drives on the market come with nothing, forcing the user to make an additional purchase (of software that's shady to start with).

Cons: Watching BD movies, I have noticed some occasional "hiccuping." There is no way that this is due to my system being unable to handle it; not sure if this is an issue with the drive or, more likely, the PowerDVD software.

5 out of 5 eggsThanks, Samsung!

Pros: Beautiful black/mirror design, BIOS detected the drive and booted to Windows 7 installation DVD without any issues, reads and plays my blu-ray movies without any issues.

Cons: Um.. the chasis is still that plain old aluminum color? A painted black housing would've been awesome, but what did you expect.

Other Thoughts: I decided to once again trust in Samsung after reading some complaints about the LG and Lite-On blu-ray drives. This drive has not disappointed me. It looks great and hasn't given me a single problem yet.

It comes with the full version of PowerDVD 8 which works well. It'd be so much simpler if programs like VLC Player and Media Player Classic supported watching blu-ray movies, though. Oh well.
