5 out of 5 eggsWorks so far for CD reading

Pros: Works for reading data CDs with included USB cable pluged into single USB port of Lenovo X230 laptop.
Great value.

Cons: Sometimes, if I pause while reading data CD, the device seems to forget where it is and needs to start from the start. Just do not pause.

Other Thoughts: I am delighted at last to have a drive that is light, small, uses only one USB port, and that I can stuff in a case where once 5 inch floppies were placed. It is now possible to install software from a data CD while on the road. Burning has yet to be tried. DVD reading has yet to be tried. Music CD reading has yet to be tried.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little drive

Pros: Slim, light, runs off USB power

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I got this drive on sale and it was some of the best money I've spent at NewEgg. I have a laptop at work and a PC at home that don't have any sort of optical drive. This drive is very slim and very light, so it's easy to just keep it in my daily carry bag. I don't need it often, but when I do it's great.

Modern PCs that can boot from USB will see this drive as a boot device, so you can use it to do a Windows install, which is super handy. If you're a PC tech or just the person who gets called to work on friends and family computers, or if you own computers with no optical drives, this drive is worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works with Macbook Air 2012 w/o problem.
Lightweight and quiet, quality build, low price. Replace 2-years old Samsung SE-S084 (works), bcs use only 1 USB port (the only reason).
Recomended.

Cons: No

5 out of 5 eggsworks great with tablets

Pros: the unit is extremely compact and works well. for use with a tablet as it states on the manufacturer's site you need to use a powered usb hub. tablets are designed to save power and extend battery life consequently the usb connection has minimal power going to it, just enough to run basic accessories. i simply connected the powered usb hub to my asus t.prime and then plugged in the drive to that and it worked great. if using with a pc or laptop i can use it without the powered hub. fyi the hubs are very cheap, the one i am using now i picked up last year for under ten bucks. i can only speak for myself but if you have an android tablet running ics it will work but you need the hub for the extra power demands thats all. no complaints here at all. nice too that i am able to swap and use it with my asus ultrabook pc as well.

Cons: none

2 out of 5 eggsNo go on Samsung tablet

Pros: Small form factor, lightweight.

Cons: Samsung staes it works with tablets, but it doesnt work with thier own galaxy tab 10.1. I was very disappointed when the tablet stated that the current draw was too much.

Other Thoughts: Quick RMA from newegg.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT the "world's thinnest" (apparently :)

Pros: Look nice, working, has bungled NERO

Cons: not as thin as advertised - 15mm not 14mm.

Other Thoughts: The thinnest drive that I found is 7mm (!) - twice as thin:
844BKKIT - assembled under Centrix brand custom made enclosure assembled with Internal drives - Panasonic UJ-844
(google it :). I did not check its quality...
