Industry-leading technologies The SAMSUNG SH-224BB burner is armed with an array of industry-leading technologies such as Buffer Underrun Free technology, Speed Adjustment Technology (S.A.T), Magic Speed, Double O.P.C technology and Tilt Actuator Compensation (T.A.C) for smooth disc reading and enhanced writing reliability. With Magic speed, you can select the reading speed of CD disc between Maximum Speed Mode (Max Mode) and Silent Mode. Buffer Underrun Free technology prevents "buffer underrun" errors in which the data transmission speed is not as fast as the data writing speed when you record data.

I have used these in several PC builds and I don't ever remember having any issues with them. Cons: None Other Thoughts: I have seen a few drives that don't seem to want to open correctly. You have to push the button a few times to get it to eject. If you run into that make sure it is mounted correctly in the case and the case does not have any plastic that is up against the door. This is NOT made by Samsung. It is made by TSST which is a new company formed under a partnership between Toshiba and Samsung but Toshiba owns the majority of the shares in the company. It is extremely difficult to get this replaced since support for TSST products is spotty at best and their website is useless. Most of their products were made 6+ years ago and never have been updated. I've been having a lot of trouble trying to get a replacement for this drive because it's not clear which company to contact and the TSST website is 8 years outdated. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Reads everything I throw at it. Cons: Certain CD players won't read the audio CDs burned from this unit. Other Thoughts: I still burn a lot of mix CDs, so it was pretty heartbreaking to bring one of my CDs over to a ladyfriend's house and have it error out. Even with a different brand of blank CD, this happens. However, when I use my laptop's burner with these brands of CDs, They play just fine. Did you find this review helpful?
