4 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly good for something so tiny

Pros: If you are building in a small form factor case that is specifically sized for one of these, this will do the trick. It reads, and it burns, as advertised.

Cons: The screw holes are very very small. I recommend a magnetized small screwdriver for this one.

Other Thoughts: I have installed and removed this drive a few times now, and it works just fine. I've burned DVDs and CDs with it with no problems at all. I do recommend using all 4 screw holes to reduce vibration and case noise when it's running. And make sure this is the size you need...this is specifically for slimline DVD burning needs.

2 out of 5 eggsCHEAP

Pros: good price

Cons: Horrible build quality! Very flimsy. It feels like it is going to fall apart if I breathe on it.

Other Thoughts: Spend more money on a better drive.

4 out of 5 eggsYup, it's a DVD drive.

Pros: Worked fine. Does it's job.

Cons: Hums a little noisily just like every other CD drive in the world.

Also, it has tiny tiny tiny screw holes in the side for mounting, and it doesn't come with the screws. Make sure your chassis has the appropriate mounting brackets / screws / hardware to actually secure the drive properly.

4 out of 5 eggsAwful Installation, Solid Drive

Pros: I bought this to rip music CDs to my computer and it does that very well.

Cons: I had one CD/DVD hybrid disc that it was unable to read. Installation was challenging due to the very small screws it uses. Finding a compatible power connector took a few tries.

Other Thoughts: A solid, affordable option.

1 out of 5 eggsMisleading usability

Pros: It's for a laptop.

Cons: This cannot be used as the impression is given, it is NOT A DESK TOP usable item.

Other Thoughts: If it was worth the money to send it back I would, you get what you pay for and the returning processes are not worth my time doing it.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it promises

Pros: It was on sale for under $20, and it works as advertised - can't really say much more than that.

Cons: Well, not really a con but, I mounted it in the side of an all-in-one and the mechanism is a little floppy when it ejects.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well under Linux (Debian Wheezy). Can pass through to VMs no problem in Virtualbox. I haven't had a single problem with this drive.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Remember this uses slimline SATA - you may need an adapter if your system only uses regular SATA.
