1 out of 5 eggsSlow Piece of Junk

Pros: inexpensive, but you get what you pay for

Cons: Very Slow burn/ rip times, Not really a Samsung.

Other Thoughts: Don't waist you money. Very slow burn / rip times. 3 to 10 times slower than other drives, never got anywhere near 24X. I've had two of these, the first one started ok and slowed down dramatically after a couple of months, the second one was slow out of the box. Also, It's not really a Samsung, it doesn't say Samsung on it anywhere, it's a TSST (a Toshiba/Samsung partner ship which is 51% owned by Toshiba)

5 out of 5 eggsRuns without issue

Pros: reads DVDs without an issue, able to burn DVDs

Cons: disk tray feels pretty cheap / light. Nothing unusual, that's just what you expect with these things.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Reads/writes at decent speeds while producing a minimal amount of noise. This might just be because of my Fractal Design Define R4 case which has a lot of noise dampening though.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: While optical drives are useless for most people in today's society, having one in your PC is still a no-brainer. They're cheap, use very little power and don't take up much room. Even if you only use it once or twice a year, they're worth the cost.

1 out of 5 eggscheap, you get what you pay for

Pros: worked fine to start ,then....

Cons: Worked fine for 3months then would not recognize unprotected movies to copy. Tried another burner to verify, and it read same movies flawlessly, won't use anymore, trashed it.
Also activity light so small you you had to look real close to see if it was doing anything

5 out of 5 eggsShocked

Pros: Received these free of charge with purchase of Sapphire AMD GPU. Did not expect much, but to my disbelief it works. Plug and play considering OEM model. Works with windows and speeds are as advertised.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is really a Toshiba drive co-manufactured with Samsung. I scored big, great bargain Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsThis is Samsung?!?!

Pros: It came free with case purchase

Cons: Disk tray sticking on first day, SECOND TIME IT WAS OPENED! Read time is pathetic for a new drive with the Samsung name on it.

Other Thoughts: Got it free when I bought a new Corsair case so I think, "Nifty, I don't need to pull a ODD out of my old system.".

Think again, glad I installed two Lite On drives in my old system. (plug alert), five years old and still work like new, which is ten times better than this piece of ....

Guess that's why they're giving them away.
