Pros: Came with oem power dvd 12.

Cons: Personal preference, wish it was a clam shell lid instead of a pop-out tray load. Is not whisper quiet.

Other Thoughts: Has little traces of grey paint marks on the top cover that makes it look like it has a collection of dust/lint on it that just won't wipe away when you try to brush it off.

Pros: No special setup or software required for use on a Mac when reading regular DVD's. Just plugged into the USB on back of iMac, and was ready to go.

Cons: USB cable supplied is pretty short, only about 1ft. long. Using the drive to play Blu-ray movies in VLC took some internet research on how / where to add files to the installation such that these titles would play (built-in DVD player did not work either).

Other Thoughts: My overall goal was the ability to make back-up versions of my Blu-ray movies to stream high-definition to an Apple TV, and this indeed is a nice drive for that work. Overall scenario is rip with MakeMKV, re-encode with Handbrake, and add tags and artwork with Meta-Z - entire process is about two hours long for a regular length movie.

Pros: Compact, attractive. Positive closing mechanism. Quiet. Burns M-Discs. Highly-rated at TheWireCutter, which is why I bought this model

Cons: I had trouble burning discs with Toast 14 -- stalls, with the remaining time never changing -- until I updated the firmware. Then it worked flawlessly with Toast.

Pros: Quiet, sleek design (especially in white), fast. good value.

Cons: Short USB cord.

Other Thoughts: Very happy with this purchase. Needed a drive for a Dell Inspiron 7000. Fit the bill perfectly and watching blu-rays is a added bonus. DVD software could be better but the drive is the best which is what matters.
