Other Thoughts: Bought this on a long shot it would work with my Raspberry Pi 2 (running Ubuntu Mate). I was pleasantly surprised when it worked with no configuration or tinkering! Also works well with a MacBook Air.

Pros: Works great, portable, no extra power cord needed!

Cons: Not sure if it was the motherboard I was using it on at the time, but I could not get get it to boot to this drive for os installation.

Other Thoughts: Don't drop it, looks fragile. Reads and burns perfect. My favorite new toy.

Cons: always getting error message saying that please connect the burner or clean the disk message.
i did re-installed windows media player.
i was able to burn one DVD so far out of 10 -20 attempts. worst experience i had with any device.

Other Thoughts: i don't think that i will get this external burner stuff again

Cons: Would not work properly on two different systems.

Other Thoughts: Tried to install Windows 7 on a new PC using this device, and the Starting Windows screen remained frozen for about 20 minutes. Tried to connect it to my laptop so that I could use the Windows ISO tool to create a USB install key. Drivers on device would not install properly, and finding an updated driver online proved to be utterly useless. How could Samsung get something this simple so horribly wrong? This will be returned posthaste.

Other Thoughts: light weight

Pros: Lightweight and easy to travel with. Fills the bill for a second drive to manage region 2 and PAL DVDs.

Cons: Not the sturdiest drive on the planet, but for my uses it doesn't need to be. Has been fine packed in with my other tech equipment without special protection.

Pros: -Light
-Feels solid
-Thin
-Easy to set up
-One cable to power the device and communicate with the computer

Cons: -Comes with useless installer CD that has only trial software.

Other Thoughts: I had to install VLC on the computer in order to get DVD video playback. This was an issue with Windows and NOT the DVD drive.

It also tends to be a tiny bit slower when reading disc content than a built-in drive, but that is due to it being USB. Not really a complaint, just an observation.

Pros: usb 3.0 compatible
it's a lot quicker than most drives in it's price range
it came with a firmware update which samsung drives usually do
top mounted eject button and LED
very clever and slim design

Cons: there are none at this point

Other Thoughts: I had to update the firmware and made it usable with windows 8.1 pro
