Pros: No problems with this item. It functions exactly as it is supposed to. Fits perfectly in my tower. SATA (purchased seperately) connected perfectly with my MOBO and recognized in BOIS as well plug and play. Nicely priced as well.

Pros: Looks good and good price. Easy install and drivers load quickly.

Cons: This particular DVD writer failed to work in 2 computers.

Other Thoughts: I've been buying parts for a new computer build for quite some time now. I purchased this component in September 2015 and it's been in the box for the last couple of months. Finally I put the new computer together and when I tried to load in Windows 10 Pro, the DVD writer sounded like it was working but would stop without starting the windows 10 install. FYI Next time when I buy a computer component, I will try it out to see if it works within 30 days. A lesson learned.

Pros: I've purchased several of Samsung's DVD writers and they are very dependable and the price is reasonable. Good quality at a good price. Can't beat that.

Pros: I don't use it very often, but when I do there are no problems.

Cons: It records very slow. About 2 hours for a movie, compared to my other DVD burner on same computer that takes only 20 minutes.

Other Thoughts: This is the second defective one, returned the first one for same reason, and they gave me a clone of the first one. I will not send it in to Samsung and pay for postage when I know I will only get another bad one. It is useless to me.

Pros: Drive worked partially. It will play a movie, for example.

Cons: I bought the drive to transfer large video files circa one gig and larger. When attempting to read the large files the drive speeds up and then slows down, speeds up and then slows down, rinse and repeat over and over and over again. It takes forever to copy a gig.

Other Thoughts: This is the second one of these drives I have bought. The other, older, drive does my copy job really well and very fast and reliably - no problems at all. This newer drive is not usable for the purpose for which it was purchased. I tried another data cable and I also updated the firmware. No dice. Something is wrong with this brand new drive.

Strange situation because the failure is not total . . but it is real.
