Awesome drive!
- Pros: Awesome drive. Lightning quick. SATA interface decreased write times slightly over my identical IDE model. Not a major increase but the cache will never starve for data which means less chance of creating a coaster.
- Cons: None. It has a 2MB cache just like it says and just like 95% of every other CD & DVD burner out there. 2MB cache is adequate for virtually any burner short of Blu-ray & HD DVD. Don't listen to the misinformed review below.
- Other Thoughts: 128MB cache! lol That's funny. Clues are cheap Jacob, you should buy one.
Great Drive
- Pros: Drive is fast and quiet. No problems whatsoever.
Other reviews say it has slow seek times, but all I do is install software and such off cds, not really much else, and this is perfect for that. I use a cd once every few weeks.
This thing burns very quickly as well.

It doesn't come with cables because it is OEM, it's also dirt cheap.
CD drives don't need drivers.
I looked at every drive on newegg, and this one seems the best for the buck. All the good drives I've purchased in the past are no longer for sale unfortunately.

Recommended
- Pros: I've now owned this drive for close to a year, so I think I can fairly evaluate this drive. It is reliable, durable, fast and reads/burns just about anything. It's cheap, works with every burner software out there and within the last year I have already gone through 2 other burners. This one is still going strong.
- Cons: Lack of FW updates, loud when read/writing at anything over 12x, but then again all optical drives are.
Uhhh, just give it away why don't you...
- Pros: So I haven't actually received it yet, so I can't comment too much, but take into consideration that my brand new Plextor DVD burner (not DL) was 350 bucks when it came out. It stopped reading "burned" media after about 1 yr. I'll never spend a lot of l00t on an optical drive again. for 30 bucks, this is a super bargain.
- Cons: It may be DOA, it may not. I'll let you know when get it.
