1 out of 5 eggsThanks to Buffalo for responding to earlier comments, but it still doesn't work

Pros: When it works with a disk, it is flawless. Great for backing up data.

Cons: This is in response to a Buffalo tech adding comments to my earlier post.

Thanks for you response to my comments at Newegg. The only problem is I am using the software from your included disk but my Gateway, HP, IBM and Acer don't recognize a disk in the drive and therefore, neither does the Cyberlink software you provided. I am still hit and miss with about only 33% of the Blurays I rent from Blockbuster working on the drive.

4 out of 5 eggsNice drive

Pros: Nice little drive includes power adapter.

Cons: NAGWARE! Every time you open any of the included apps they nag you to upgrade. The usb cables are very short.
Looses an egg for the included upgrade nagging software

Other Thoughts: So far i like the drive but I had to order a a a usb extension and a longer usb Y cable to reach the the usb ports to power it when not using the power adapter.
Hate the software!

1 out of 5 eggsSlow as Death!

Pros: Small, sleek design.

Cons: This thing is slower than floppy drive, and that's if it completes a burn without errors.
Requires power supply to be plugged in to operate, so much for portability.

Other Thoughts: Tried burning 16 GB to a BluRay disk that I received free with this drive and Nero estimated 32 HOURS! but then it failed about half way! Tried again and failed once more!
Piece of Junk, stay away from USB BluRay burners. I'm guessing USB just can't handle the bandwidth needed.

Manufacturer Response:

Twiddler, this can happen if your drivers/bios is not up to date for your USB ports. please try to update and try again. also please email me if you have further questions.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless for many movies

Pros: When it works with a movie, it is flawless. Burning to both DVD and Blu-Ray was great.

Cons: 2/3's of the Blu-Ray movies I have tried to run in it to watch movies on my Acer W500 aren't even recognized as a disk by windows. No drivers from Buffalo, so you are stuck with the old Microsoft BR driver native to Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: If you want it for data storage, this is a great drive. If you want to use it to watch movies, it is near useless and there is little to zero support on website.

Manufacturer Response:

Kyle, this drive comes with Cyberlink Blu-ray player software package. when installed you can play Blu-ray movies. In our opinion this is the best software available. The problem with Blu-ray is that you constantly have to keep updating your software to update the "DRM". If you have a new release sometimes you have to wait a couple days before players have the updated DRM available. This is a caveat of all Blu-Ray players. If you're having problems updating the software send me an email.

4 out of 5 eggsGood little burner

Pros: Burner works great. I've only used it for data storage, and its reasonably fast at that task. It takes up very little space as well, and could easily be put in a drawer when not in use.

Cons: One egg off for the software that it came with. There was no description of what all of the individual pieces of software were, and after installation I realized that I'd pretty much never use any of it. It was kind of a pain to uninstall as well, as I couldn't do it all at once, I had to do each individual program (10 or so). I ended up using ImgBurn as my burning suite, which is free and very light weight.

Other Thoughts: A good purchase overall. My wife and I run a photography business, and those image files add up very quickly. This was a good storage solution at a reasonable price.

5 out of 5 eggsTHX NewEgg for such a great buy!

Pros: Sleek, Burns 100% Successful

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: This drive burns fast and successfully every time I've used it. Never had any trouble whatsoever. My blu-ray player both reads the media and never skips.

THX NewEgg for such a great buy!
