Other Thoughts: Worked well for a few days, then my Windoze/Linux boxes were not able to detect the drive anymore; had to send it back...
The new one is ok;
But often, then I want to boot from the drive, the bios of various machines cant detect the drive, in which case I revert to my good-old plextor, which works every single time

Pros: - Super slim
- Solid casing, no "plastic"ky feel at all
- Made in Taiwan, drive OEM is Mashita, model is BD-MLT UJ272, should be the latest UJ series in the market
- USB 3.0 port
- It has a tray, it is worry-free if a disc is stuck inside the drive. Simply use a pin to eject the disc manually

Cons: - The drive might not be taken/ejected if we would like to reuse the casing to house newer optical drive
- Assume that the drive can be exchanged, normal OEM notebook ODD cannot fit in the casing except a super slim size version

Other Thoughts: Before buying this brand, i was using Pawtec (External USB 3.0 Aluminum 6X BDXL Blu-Ray Writer Burner Windows or MAC). The burner could not successfully burn the data onto BD-R. half of my data on the disc were not readable. It literally burned but made several discs unusable.

But Rosewill doesn't give me above problems. I use it to back up my videos and pictures. Although it's not as branded as other optical drive manufacturers, but i would recommend this product to buyers.

Note: if you intend to buy it to backup your PS game titles, forget about it, PS console will only recognize it as a data disc.

Pros: Really nice design.
Simple to use.

Cons: Drivers needed for use when installing Windows 7!

Other Thoughts: Had to use another DVD ROM to install windows because of the driver issue. But other than that it performed better than the SATA ROM.
