This Philips 20X DVD burner writes 4.7GB of data in about five and a half minutes to DVD±R, supports all DVD formats, and offers LightScribe direct labeling for your media. With LightScribe, you can design custom labels for your discs, then burn them directly onto LightScribe blanks, in silk-screen quality. A 2 MB buffer, buffer under-run protection and dynamic write speed calibration ensure you get accurate, working copies every time, instead of wasting disc blanks on failed write attempts.

Nice!
- Pros: Stylish Front design and LiteScribe feature makes it an attractive burner! SATA is simple and easy install! Fast burn speeds, no coasters! No old-school ribbon/PATA connectors. Who really uses PATA anymore? Very nice eye catcher on any custom build. Also, Nero Essentials CD is a nice burning program included. Retail box isnt a 90 day trial, its the full version of Nero! Buy this burner!
- Cons: None! Great burner!
- Other Thoughts: Some people say this burner runs loud. Its not really that bad and not loud enough to persuade me from buying it. I have built over 12 systems with these burners, every client comments on how sleek they look in their towers. Never have I heard its too loud for them to enjoy. Overall, an excellent burner and well worth the money.
best dvd burner i've owned.
- Pros: I am extremely happy with this dvd burner. My previous SATA burner died and I want to give it one more chance and I didn't think it performed so well for the price. I immediately notice improvement in speed on all factor, faster bootup, faster reading/copy, somehow faster writing, and faster disc eject. I am delighted at this. It is fairly quiet, for reading it makes noises like most other cdrom, but I do not hear anything when it's burning. Have been burning cd, dvd and dual layers without problems. The physical size is also short. I also have to praise Philips for including the Nero7 software which I already have, but is really an excellent burning software.
- Cons: 1. The main eject button doesn't have a firm click feel to it, but this is does not bother me. 2. I have seen better lightscribe printing quality. It seem be lack contrast and sharpness, I would have to print twice or three time to have a decent image. This does not matter to me as well since I only use printable disc. 3. Somehow it only detect my CD-R lowest burning speed at 16X, I would prefer to burn slower to prevent any data corruption, but so far so good.

What they don't tell you
- Pros: Quiet, Reasonably priced, Nice 2 tone Graphic.
- Cons: Can't burn from a IDE hard drive to this drive i have the same drive in IDE and it bruns fine. They alos don;t tell you that the graphic tends to fade a little in a months time so this is not a long term solution
- Other Thoughts: a sata cable whould have to include with my new DVD drive
Good drive
- Pros: FAST burn speeds for a good price. Lightscribe is also a huge bonus. SATA is awesome.
- Cons: A little on the loud side, but it doesn't bother me too much. (just turn up the volume on the speakers ^_^)
I also don't like the eject button, but these are minor complaints for what otherwise is a spectacular drive.
Not worth it
- Pros: It looks nice and actually came with a full version of Nero.
- Cons: It refuses to correctly burn CDs. I tried burning audio CDs with Windows Media Player, iTunes, Nero, and Winamp. The burning either failed or the data was corrupt every single time.
- Other Thoughts: Philips customer service told me to return it. I will be doing that shortly.
